HI I failed at growing my first time and the PC I have(lent to me) is dangerous I am pretty sure (lid has trouble staying on) anyway I reaalized ALL of the mistakes I made (and there were many)
what do you guys think about using a Toaster Oven?? I can set it at a certain temp and it has a timer somthing I cant do with the PC I have , I also burnt mysleft with the PC, you know that little hole with the presure thing(dont know what to call it) and when you push down on it it will release steam WELL...... dont lay your hand flat on it while trying to see if the lid is on right
I "think" the toaster oven "should" work what do you all think?? (I would love a good PC and I finally think I know how to use them , that little peice that burnt me is what sticks up and shows that the cooker is "presurized" correct??)

You don't want to use a toaster oven. If you have a large pot...just steam your BRF jars in a pot of water over the top of the stove...until you figgure out how to use your pressure cooker.
I don't have and I'm not familiar with the type of pressure cooker that you have. I'm sure someone will come along that knows how to use that type and help you.
Good luck!

Steaming your jars is fine. Most people that don't have a pressure cooker have to steam their jars. It talks about steaming jars in the PF tek. There is 2 major drawbacks from steaming rather than using a pressure cooker. It takes longer to steam your jars than it would in a pressure cooker. Pressure cooking will also sterilize the jars better.
Using a toaster oven will not sterilize your jars properly. Plus you might dry out the substrate inside your jars.
good luck!

I heard ........ the little rubber thing with metal in the center(the thing that burned me!) is what determines the presure! I think "I might" use this PC again and try to make thing work this time I found out that the jars were a little "crispy" on the bottom (llike I said I think I know what my mistakes were) I think I should put a washcloth along the bottom to balance the heat , and I should also bring the heat up ........slow..... and maybe instead of letting the rubber thing leak steam for 1/4 of my cook time I will make sure its "presureized" sound cool??? oh ya and I remember reading here "to little water is better than to much" well I am doing the simple cubenis growing tek and I am going to add a little more water

Id honestly just steam them. The PC sounds like its more trouble than its worth. Steaming them works for 99% of the people that do it, as long as your not using whole grains...which your not, It will work just fine, and you dont have the same chance of messing up again with the PC, or possibly harming yourself again:P
