A guide to wild hallucinogenic mushrooms in sweden.
    #1330776 - 02/24/03 05:37 AM (21 years, 1 month ago)

If your a swede or a tourist looking to go shroomi hunting in sweden here is a short guide to sacred fruit in sweden.

Hunting season: August to November

The P.semilanceata also known as liberty caps or (toppsl?tsskivling in sweden) is the most popular recreational shroom found in sweden. The southern parts of sweden are ideal for finding P.semilanceata and other psilocybe shrooms.

Your best bet is to look around farms or any type of cultivated land. Golf courts are a personal favorite mine but i also tend to find allot by the edges of roads. You wont find any liberty caps in the woods but they are very common around wooded areas. When i was in gradeschool i found a batch on the school lawn

Personally i thinks its amazing that so few people are actually out mushroom hunting where i live as it is so easy to find great amounts. The P.semilanceata is supposedly very hard to cultivate indoors and its potency is nothing short of breathtaking. Last fall i ate 50 very tiny liberty caps and it totally blew me away. A novice user should try 20.

The Amanita muscaria is another species that is super easy to find all over sweden. If your out shrooming this is the species that you will most likely be able to recognize due to its striking appearance. Unfortunately the psychoactive properties of this shroom sucks and you could very easily end up dead if eating to many of these. I wouldn't recommend this shroom to even my worst enemy.
In sweden the amanita strains are called Flugsvamp (fly-mushroom).

A recently discovered shroom in sweden is the Psilocybe laetissima and it was found growing in the wild on the popular tourist island of Gotland. The psychoactive properties of this shroom is said to be poor.

The Psilocybe Coprophila is another good shroom. Although not as common as the liberty caps it still produces a great high. (20-30 shrooms normal dosage) As the name suggests you will find this one growing on cowdung.

Here is a list of shrooms you might encounter with their given names in swedish.

Psilocybe Semilanceata (Toppsl?tskivling)
Psilocybe Merdaria (Rotsl?tskivling)
Psilocybe Rhombispora (Skogssl?tskivling)
Psilocybe Montana (Strimmig Sl?tskivling)
Psilocybe Inquilina (Lumpskr?ling)
Psilocybe Coprophila (Dyngsl?tskivling)
Psilocybe Subcoprophila    ? Unknown
Panaeolus Campanulatus (Allm?n brokskivling)  same species diffrent names
Panaeolus Sphinctrinus (Allm?n brokskivling) same as above with swedish name.
Panaeolus Foenisecii  (Sl?tterbrokskivling)
Conocybe Lactea  (Klockh?tting)  Easily mistaken for a highly toxic mushrooms.
Conocybe Cyanopus (Liten klockh?tting)

Always carry a mushroom identification book and never eat anything you are not sure about.
You can buy some Methaminosulfate (used in photography) to aid you in identifying your shrooms. Put the sulfate in 20 parts of distilled water and pour some on the stem of the shroom, if the stem turns dark purple you should be ok.
I have never myself tried this so i cant vouch for it.

If you have any questions feel free to ask me. I'm going to get allot of spore prints this fall so if your interested in a certain species I'm willing to give/trade.

Peace.

Its to my understanding that:

Psilocybe Merdaria
Psilocybe Rhombispora
Psilocybe Montana
Psilocybe Inquilina
Psilocybe Coprophila
Psilocybe Subcoprophila
Panaeolus Campanulatus
Panaeolus Sphinctrinus
Panaeolus Foenisecii

Are NOT active....

The only real active mushroom in your list would be the Psilocybe Semilanceata ... or liberty cap.

P. semilanceata and Conocybe cyanopus are the only two known species of psilocybian shrooms reported from Sweeden. It is possible that pluteus salicinus or a related species of Pluteus might be in Sweeden since they are common in Norway. I did post maps recently of Norway for both Pluteus and the Liberty cap.

Maybe in Mushroom pictures or hunting forum.

Yes the Psilocybe Coprophila does have minuscule amounts of psilocybe in it but my rabbit and his friend swore that he got high off of it.

I'm interested in Conocybe cyanopus. I have never been able to locate a print. I am also somewhat interested in a few of the inactive Psilocybes on that list.

Psilocybe Merdaria (Rotsl?tskivling)
Psilocybe Rhombispora (Skogssl?tskivling)
Psilocybe Montana (Strimmig Sl?tskivling)

Oh and that new one.
Psilocybe laetissima

Let me know what you find.

HI,

Conocybe cyanopus grows her ein Washington and Oregon. This is now their season. I will see if I cn find one for you Workman. I usually find them but the dosage is 75 or more shrooms eqyaling one third of a fresh ounce.

They are small shrooms between 2-3 inches high and no more in all grasses in sphagum moss.

AS for the otehrs I sometimes see P. montana growing.

Anyway If I run arcross any I will inform you. I found them out buy Green River before.

Mj

Wehre did you here of this alleged new species before?

Oh yes, those names in parenthesis are the names of the peprsons in Sweeden who reported those species as being in Sweeden. Not the ones who named the species.

Yeah they are just common names used instead of latin. The Psilocybe laetissima is not actually a new species its just never been found growing in sweden untill last year that is.

Sweded and UK has same cold climate like in Lithuania but I never was able to find semilanceata, only similar looking shrooms.
Theoretically p. azurescens and cyanescens should be also able to grow in sweden.

Keep hunting! It grows in all the Baltic countries.

I believe the increased use of wood mulch in parks and gardens might be positive for the spreading
of P. cyanescens, at least in the southern parts of Scandinavia where the fall lasts longer and
the winters are milder. It's either a waiting game or a job for stealthy cultivators.

But even as I would enjoy seeing such a species grow where I live (Norway), I'm sceptical about
trying to spread them by force.
