black spot

if there is black mold only in one spot, is the cake doomed? or can i do something about it

Depends on size and kind of contamination. If the jar is allmost colonized with mycelium and the spot is small, you could try to save it by cutting the infected area when birthing the jar, inspect very well. Otherwise, toss it.
