broke, unemployed and can't collect unemployment

Anyone else having this problem? I've been searching for a job since this past January when I graduated from a very respected tech school with a certificate in architectural drafting & design (AutoCAD, Revit, Inventor). I also have an associates degree, and I'm going to turn it into a bachelors if I'm ever able to find a way to pay for another 2 years of college.
I can't collect unemployment because I've never had a full time job on the books. I worked full time as a painter for years but I was paid under the table. And I've worked plenty of part time jobs on the books. I dunno how it is elsewhere, but in CT you have to have had a full time job on the books (paying into unemployment insurance) for at least 6 months in order to collect unemployment after you lose the job. Since I haven't had an on the books job full time, I can't collect.
My school has an employment assistance guy who helps by finding job openings and sending out my resume and picture to potential employers. So far I've had 3 interviews in the last 9 months and they interviewers liked me a lot, and were genuinely charmed. But that wasn't enough to get them past the fact that I have no working experience in my field yet. I was going up against engineers with 10+ years experience applying for the same job as me.
Things have been picking up in the last few weeks. There are a lot more job openings popping up (like 2 or 3 every couple weeks) rather than the 1 every 3 months like it was right after I graduated. But I'm sure there are still tons of unemployed, experienced engineers who are far more qualified than me, waiting to snatch up any job opening they can find (even if it means accepting a MUCH lower wage or salary than they're used to).
I've also been applying to jobs at places like home depot and other retail stores, bars and restaurants just for SOME income until/if i ever find real work. but no luck there so far. If it wasn't for my parents I'd be homeless for sure. I'm sick of being broke and not working. I always knew there were a lot more people than there are jobs, but I never thought I'd end up as a penniless 25 year old who can't support himself. I try to keep the thought that I'm a failure and a loser out of my head when I'm frustrated about it but my parents always make sure to remind me that I'm 25 years old and I should have been out on my own years ago.
Any recommendations on places that will hire without any prior experience? I have no criminal record but I've never worked any kind of retail before. I had a few painting jobs over the summer but it has all dried up now. I can't even put gas in my car anymore I'm ready to move to Brazil with my girlfriend (she's from there) and look for work there but I need to have money to do that.

No. It's an employers market right now. Even for entry level jobs these dickheads want 3-5 years RECENT experience. If you're like me and you took a few years off work for a disability, you might as well have never worked in your life. They actually believe that in the span of 3 years I forgot how to use Microsoft Word or make copies. HR bitches are the worst, especially temp agency hos. Damn, I just wanna send a motherfuckin' suicide bomber over to their office.

I'm in the EXACT same boat as you my friend. Same with the parents too, lol.
Apply for everything, and keep updating and changing your resume around. Make sure it's top notch. Put yourself up a bit, dont have to lie but i'm sure you can stretch somethings out. Lack of experience, then put related classes on your resume, things that people would look for in your field. Dont list your GPA, nobody cares anymore.
I can't collect unemployment because I quit my last job. It was a tough choice but the stress got me hard and I was getting mentally and physically ill.
Finding a job is a full time job now. Get up, hit the web, get some news papers, go out to businesses, gotta push or you wont get anywhere.
Good luck buddy!
Keep your head up, and if you have friends, ask them if they know anyone hiring or if they can hook you up with something part time.

yea my GPA is 3.5 so that was never an issue I think. My original resume that the employment assistance guy wrote up for me was a piece of shit. But I happen to be good friends with a human resources manager for a national company so he knows what employers are looking for. He helped me revamp my resume to be as appealing as he could possibly make it without exaggerating too much.
I've already exhausted all my friends and family who have connections in the industry. They've personally given my resume to the right people and talked me up but none of that matters if there isn't a job available at their company.

I would grow mush for sure and extract DMT if I could. But I don't have the start-up money to buy spores and grow supplies.
