What is the desirable spacing between PF Cakes in a shotgun style FC? I'm sure there are various opinions, let me hear yours!

EXACTLY 5.4" apart.
anymore or less and you will not get a single mushroom.
they know if your doing it right.

Taking into consideration moon cycles I was leaning towards 5.3 thank god you posted!
Honestly tho, what would you estimate is a generous amount of space between the lids to foster a high humidity and still allow ample room for growth?

thanks for being a good sport bout that.
really though just put ALL of your cakes in there. stack them on top of eachother if needed.

so your saying if I have two pf cakes in the same terrarium about a foot apart, they wont grow mushies.....?
not exactly correct. they could be too close and start to colonize together making the fruiting time take forever and eventually contaminating for taking soo long, but never too far away from each other and not fruit. ive had 2 cakes in a big terrarium and fruited fine. the reason the fc was so big is because only two cakes were done out of 8.
neways look at pics of peoples fc in the galleries. that might help.

I figured I could use the pictures from posts and whatnot as a guide, but I was hoping there might be more data that I was unaware of that could gauge possible side growth(?) and give a good number for proper planning.
Not that winging it is a horrible idea either :p

you're growing from spores on cakes.
the pins will show up randomly according to microclimates.
maybe cakes closer together will pin more on the side. maybe not.
no sense in trying to control it.
like i said. put ALL your cakes in your fruiting chamber.

I heard you put em about 2 inches apart to create a good micro-climate..

Let's reformulate the question so as not to confuse the masses. If you were trying to obtain the highest levels of humidity in a shotgun style FC by placing cakes in close proximity as suggested via the PF Tek Done Right posts instructions, what would be the closest distance you would want to place your cakes while still allowing for proper growth and/or to avoid tangling and possible resulting contamination issues from halted growth or issues that could arise.
Better? lol

you can have them touching and still get good growth :/
i honestly dont think anyone has done an isolated experiment on the distances apart of PF cakes
if your pressed for room in your SGFC just stack them

2 inches was what I was guesstimating from the pics so I'll take that as a winner, thanks

this is a serious question since a first time grower have no refrence to his strain size or fruiting angle reading spamming answers here have been a frustrating experience
