This one has been buggin' me...
    #13296878 - 10/06/10 01:09 AM (13 years, 4 months ago)

I never picked or recorded this one, so not much info to go on...but it's been calling from the woods: "ID me...ID Meeeeee"...

Habitat:
In deciduous/pine (80/20) woodland, approx 150M NW UK

Gills:
White-Cream

Stem:
Length: 10-20cm, diameter: 2-4cm,
ColoUr: White-Cream,
Hollow/solid: Looked solid.

Cap Diameter: Up to 15/20cm

Spore print color:
Didn't take one as very unsure what they were, so just left them.

Bruising:
Slight brown/tan brusing.

Other information:
Growing in a fairy-ring, can't for the life of me remember under what tree, but site can be revisited very easily.
They gave off a very elegant and powerful 'feel'

I can't even hazard a guess, anyone fancy a go at these?

Got any images of the base of the stipe, the gill shot looks like they could be an Amanita species.

Edit, or possibly Armillaria.

Doesn't look like Amanita to me at all. Lepista, maybe.

Unfortunately not Inski.

I'm due to revisit these very rich woodlands in the next week, got to go to check for some more chanterelles so will revisit these at the same time.

Not Lepista with that free gill attachment, that was the only reason I considered Amanita, more information is needed!

Maybe Armillaria with that slight reddish brown staining!

Thanks guys
Rhodocollybia maculata sounds good:
http://www.mushroomexpert.com/rhodocollybia_maculata.html

But: "Odor and Taste: Odor not distinctive or fragrant; taste slightly to moderately bitter."
Maybe not worth revisiting unles I pass it/them again.
