Hello everyone!
I'm glad to finally be a member here at The Shroomery. Over the summer SWIM researched the shit out of the cultivation of mushrooms, and about two months ago started gathering supplies. SWIM's grow was very simple. 10 jars filled with vermiculite and brown rice flower knocked up with the Z-Strain syringe from Spores101.
Here is half the mushrooms from the first flush.
SWIM was impressed with how quick the whole process was. From injecting the spores to harvesting the mushrooms, it was around 4 weeks.
SWIM will definitely be looking for more strain/substrate combinations to experiment with in the future.

I am going to start with 24 half pint jars.
If I averaged 10.5g/s per 4.
That's 63 grams.
2 1/4th oz's.
I couldn't see myself eating that many mushrooms in time for the next set of cakes to produce.
Jesus.
I don't know how people with monotubs, and martha's setup eat all there mushies.
They must be like handing out to friends, or saving.
My average dose is like 4-5g/s. Takes like a month and a half before you get new ones flushing, Could dose up every week if I wanted too and still have left overs.
That is why I am skeptical too go into monotubs =O

they dont grow them just to eat, they grow them because its pretty much fun, trying new teks and so on.

yields and time taken for the yields varies greatly when using multispore inoculation.
my biggest fear is having my first successful monotub filled with bunk ass shrooms.

do agar work and isolate a strain that way you know you got a good performer

I've been looking at some casing teks and they seem like the next logical step to me. Cakes are great, but I've seen pics around here of monotubs and such that blow me away with the amount of great looking fruits they produce.
It's strange, at first I was just excited about growing my own shrooms and not having to worry about waiting on other people, but now I'm starting to like the process as much, if not more, than the actual outcome haha.

Yea, can't get my agar to perform well right now. Either way that's many transfers and tests away from a spore syringe. And alot of time.
In the meantime there's still the chance ur MS fruits will be totally impotent .
Still, they say this rarely happens, and I haven't got any like that yet. Rye spawned to bulk, that's where it's at.
