Omphalotus illudens or Omphalotus olearius?

My girl and I went on a walk in a new park (well new to us anyway). We've been in a severe drought all summer but we have gotten two good days of rain in the last week or so. Even with the two good rains we got it's still very dry in the forests. I saw what looked like some old chicken of the woods on a log by a creek off the side of the trail we were on. We went to investigate and my girl noticed of these clusters of orange mushrooms at the base of a tree near the chickens. At first I thought that they were Mycena leaiana until I got close and saw they were growing from the soil. I then realized what genus they belonged to and so I'm wondering the species name. This is my first Jack-o-lantern find and they were very beautiful to look at but had a very strong scent.
I apologize for the glare in the pictures, it was about dusk when I took them so I had to use my flash and I could not get them to come out that good.
Where does it grow? SW Ohio mixed deciduous forest.
What does it grow on? Growing from the soil at the base of a dead tree. Several large clusters.
Gills: Orange, somewhat decurrent.
Stem: 7-11 cm in length, 1 - 1 1/2 cm in diameter. Solid from what I could tell I didn't break any to see.
Cap: 3-5 cm in diameter, orange, smooth, dry.
Spore print color: Didn't take one because I didn't collect any and I recognized them as an Omphalotus sp.
Bruising: No bruising was observed.
Other information: These mushrooms had an intense mushroomy scent. Very strong.

Supposedly they do, I've never seen it though.
