The neighbor (a doctor) called me as strange mushrooms are growing in his garden.

That is the healthiest specimen I have seen. I picked a bunch over the weekend and am in the process of researching the best way to use them.

There is a lot of info on there benefits but very little on how to use them. Great find!

Make the tea. The Asian/European Ganoderma species are sometimes very hard to distinguish, especially without a microscope. They all contain similar medicinal properties though, and none will hurt you.

Yes, Ganoderma Lucidium 100%.

Enjoy the tea, I gave it a whirl for awhile but it was so horrendously disgusting that I couldn't swallow it anymore without gagging.

I hate Ganoderma lucidum tea. It was awful, in my humble opinion.
Take some antibiotics.. lol

Nice specimens though, very pretty. :congrats:

I always mix mine with juice or other tea. RR says he sometimes uses it as a base for soups.

hi,
it is an Israeli Ganoderma.
I have a very good Zeiss Phase Contrast Microscope at the lab.
If I get the picture of the spores and a micron Scale will I be able to get the 100% ID

Sounds like a good way to ruin a perfectly good soup :evilpuke:

RR is the man when it comes to Lucidium though so he can probably find a way to hide that horrible taste!

You're lucky to have a high-grade scope! If you get all your pictures documented I'm sure you can get a positive ID. It's not far out to assume it's G. lucidum. Sadly we don't seem to have a Ganoderma expert on board at the Shroomery. If you put it up at Mushroom Observer or e-mail it to an expert you'll probably get it in a jiffy.

Chinese herbalists record several different "colours" of ling zhi.  Red, yellow, and black; black is actually very tasty, red is bitter but not objectionable, I haven't tried yellow yet.

I usually boil them in water for 4 hours with about half dozen dried red dates (this softens the flavour a bit).

At least give it a try.

I dry them, grind them up and add to my coffee grounds, when I make coffee. It leaves a slight prickly taste in the throat, but the coffee covers the taste nicely:shrug:

if you also dont want the taste you can put them in vegicaps and swallow them down. antibiotics kill life, reishi promotes life.

im in the process of making G. lucidium tincture, alcohol base. from there you can put about 50 drops into a shot of fruit juice and down it.
