Police x-ray The mobile system was used to check for drugs and weapons A portable body scanner used to check Liverpool city centre revellers for drugs and weapons has been hailed a success by Merseyside Police.
The force said it was the first in the North West to operate the x-ray, which is similar to those used at airports.
It was used close to the busy Concert Square and Church Street areas of the city over the weekend.
Ch Insp John Roy, of Merseyside Police, said about 10 arrests were made as a direct result of the device being used.
Deterrent effect
The system is designed to reassure the public and identify anyone carrying drugs or weapons.
Anyone avoiding police officers or acting suspiciously was asked to walk through the scanner on Friday and Saturday night.
Mr Roy said the device should make people think twice about bringing illegal items into the city centre.
"I think it was highly successful," he said.
"What we found were a number of people in possession of weapons such as knives.
"On top of that it almost certainly had a deterrent effect on those who intended to bring weapons and drugs into the city centre at the weekend."

If your too lazy to read:
watch this report on it
-------------------- December 1960: "They took the drug one evening at Leary's house and had a profound experience, during which Ginsburg prophetically realized that it was a time to start "a peace and love movement". He then ran naked around the house, attempted to get Kruschev and Kennedy on the telephone and announced to the operator that he was God."

This is blatantly against our 4th Amendment Rights!

Or was that one of our "rights" erased by the Patriot Act?

Great idea....
Lets give police discretionary authority to figure out who looks shifty and pull them aside to be bombarded with x-ray radiation. That sounds healthy and pursuant to the concept of necessary for ordered liberty.

When they first were testing this technology (in the states) they would have people exit the car and roll the car through the scanner....now I guess they don't care about bombarding innocent people with x-rays powerful enough to penetrate metal!
If this doesn't go to court soon with a lawsuit and promptly removed on health and constitutional grounds this truly is a scary time in the US...

Whats next? mandatory webcams in homes that police use to watch everyone?
Just a reminder. Cops are humans. Humans break laws. Humans are cops that can break the laws. Just because a Cop is told "you will get fired or arrested if you abuse this power" doesn't stop any cop from abusing the power, and it WILL happen.
Think about your job, is there anyone at your job that breaks any rules and gets away with it?

Yeah we really are seeing the rise and merger of the police and surveillance state. And by the way this is a spin off of the "naked body scanners" at airports and some court houses...they have now made them mobile and are driving around in plane white vans scanning cars indiscriminately. I can see a future that has them in unmanned drones or planes that fly over and track people, search without warrants, basically a window into all of our lives without our consent and while bathing us in radiation...

Pretty much. As we move closer and closer to the New World Order it'll just get worse and worse....
I heard on the Alex Jones radio show him talk to peopple about cameras being put in peoples' homes. I know this is already happening in England so i made a search on Google and foud this. There are plenty more news articles like this one.
If you wanna see what else is installed for us whach this documentary..
If you're not fimiliar with the New World Order watch this documentary first, then this one.
