there was some nicer/stronger/web looking myc when the grain was in the jars
it was about 1 week ago that i crumbled it up and placed in the buckets. i think they're just working on peeking through the soil/verm i sprinkled on top.
i'm no expert though
thanks!

how does it look?
yes, i fucked up & forgot to place the grain on the foil, just straight on top of the perlite. oops.

should i move these things to a cooler location now?
i've had them on a shelf inside a closet, sitting inside the tub, and partially covered by a towel for about 11 days

yeah. it was one of those mistakes you make when you're baked. haha. it's a thin layer of perlite that was damp with h202 and then later on the grain was dumped on top without the foil. some hydrated and microwaved vermiculite was sprinkled on top afterwards.
i think i'm going to lift off the foil covers that are just loosely sitting above them, maybe waft some fresh air inside? they've been incubating for a while now

okay, so i removed the foil and then fanned some fresh air inside the buckets, then gave it the first misting- a decent amount
1 day later and there's something new going on- i'm assuming it's a contam ?
the following pic is from the same bucket as the previously posted pic. the growth has occurred adjacent to the hole (taped up) in the previous pic.
sorry i don't have a decent camera with macro to use tonight

I don't understand how someone with 463 posts on these boards did so many basic fuck ups.
Spend less time in the pub and more in cultivation.

yeah i'm not sure why, but as written above it was for the most part an attempt to determine the potency of the stored spores i had. the answer to that is clear.
and haha, yeah i did a lot more reading afterwards.
but as i wrote earlier there is a layer of perlite, layer of colonized hominy, partially colonized perlite, and then also garden soil & verm that was microwaved and topped over the hominy after cooling. left to grow it colonized more and looked pretty decent.
i think i found just about everything at the 99 cent store- wild bird seed, shoebox trays for casings, rubbing alcohol, ball jars, disinfectant spray, rubber gloves.
may try using the brf method also
and yes new to cultivating spores, i am more focused on the cactus, but whatevs
