weird orange/yellow tree mutants

I saw these funky looking things growing from the side of a tree today. Something crazy seems to have been going on with them because one of them had turned right back around and was growing towards the tree again!
Anyway, I think it is some kind of Gymnopilus species based on the spore color and how it is growing out of the side of a dead pine. I read this on mushroom expert.com: The "true" Gymnopilus junonius grows on the wood of hardwoods or conifers, and has a stem that is usually about 1 or 2 cm thick and is not often swollen in the middle. It is widely distributed in North America. Gymnopilus ventricosus, from the Pacific Northwest, grows only on conifer wood and can reach astounding sizes (caps to 40 cm); it has a very thick stem that is often swollen in the middle and can reach a width of 10 cm.
The stem for this is certainly swollen, so I'm thinking not junonius, but I don't live in PNW, so not ventricosus. And I'm not even sure what spectabilis is defined as. Help please?
Habitat Growing from the side of a dead tree in NJ. I think maybe a pine.
Gills pores/gills: Gills color: Yellowish and some pinkish beige, some dark brown spots attachment: Slightly decurrent
Stem length: 2 1/2” diameter: 2” at the widest spot color: Yellowish texture: Fibrous hollow/solid: Solid Also, this one lost its ring but the younger ones that I left on the tree still had them.
Cap diameter: 2 3/4” color: Orangey brown texture: Has some little specks on it shape: Irregular convex/concave: Convex
Spore print Waiting on it but q-tip says orangish
Bruising The base of the stem is very slightly greenish yellow but it doesn’t bruise more when I press on it.
My camera felt like taking some sepia-ish photos today for some reason. The photos from in the woods show the color more accurately.

Not that I've seen one bulbous like yours but cap and gills are like Tricholomopsis rutilans.

The reddishness in the photos is just from my camera sucking. They weren't red at all.
...I really need to get a better camera once I get tuition taken care of.

Or just get some photo editing software and fix your white balance.

I tried to but I deleted iPhoto and I think I lost my install disk. I need to ask a friend some time to borrow one.

Eh, I'm really not too concerned to do it right now. I don't have very much space left on my laptop for more programs. The colors are accurate in the woods photos. The others just show the texture a little better.

with the yellow staining, it seems T. rutilens or Armillaria sinapina are likely

Tricholomopsis do not have veils.
Looks like a deformed Armillaria but spores are orange

T. rutilens: There was no red at all. The cap is light brown, kind of orange.
Armillaria sinapina: Do you have a description of this? I can't seem to find much online.
The yellow is pretty much the same as the rest of the stem, just a tiny bit more yellow/green. I'm wondering if it could be that the fibers are denser there so the stem color is more pronounced. It's definitely not bruising readily in the way that Boletes do.

If it is Armillaria I will be forced to glare at it in a displeased manner. They are taking over the forest!

It's that fat chick you dumped last year whose name you can't remember but is coming back to haunt you.
