I recently made a documentary out of one of my trips. You can see it at www.talesfromthetriponline.com The preview playing on my site had to be compressed real small so if you wanna watch it in high quality go on youtube and search "Tales From The Trip" 5 minute sneak preview.

American: The Bill Hicks Story, just came on the net earlier this week - and I just finished watching it. Very well done documentary about one of the greatest stand up comedians of all time.
If you're a Bill Hicks fan this is a must see.
I think I found it on demonoid.

I really enjoyed this one about different toxins that are in various creatures around the world.  It claimed eight poison types, such as haemorrhagins, haemotoxins, myotoxins, nephrotoxins, necrotoxin, neurotoxin, cardiotoxin, and I forget the last one.  It was fascinating, it showed each poising acting in the system and what the effects of each are, as well as treatment options.  This girl I know had a bite on her leg, one look and I knew it was a spider bite 'cause by then I was a total expert, and I said, "That looks like a Brown Recluse bite and the beginning signs of necrosis.  I'd get to a doctor and get that checked out before they have to go in and scoop out a chunk of your leg with a medical grade ice cream scoop."  She didn't listen right away, went to the doctor a week later and guess what.  Necrosis from a Brown Recluse bite, they had to scoop out the flesh.  I felt smart, but really I just watched TV.

Then another time I went and watched this one about Bigfoot right before I left with my family to go on vacation.  On the way up they detoured and looked at this one area.  I had to pee to so I went to go in these reed-bush looking objects that were like plants.  I went to pee on those and they started rumbling and shaking like something was in it.  Being maybe 5 or 6 I started peeing immediately and I got terrified and ran away.

Discovery HD Theater used to show more of that kind of stuff before they showed nothing but American Chopper and other bullshit like that bullshit.  Pretty much nothing but cars and bikes.  Don't get me wrong, I'm a car nut and I'm pretty good at old muscle cars, but they showed cool-ass documentaries before it was nothing but that shit.

Oh there was this one about traffic.  Yeah, a whole hour-long documentary about traffic patterns.  Did you know that on a major roadway (Highway, beltway/loop) a car or traffic stop or anything along the shoulder of the road will affect traffic with a 1:4 ratio of time there vs. time traffic is affected.  So if an accident is on the side of the road for 20 minutes, it's going to affect traffic for an hour and 20 minutes.  Cool ass shit to know if you ever want to nerd out.  That was on the Science Channel, bitches.

"Beer Wars" if you enjoy a nice beer once and a while. This is a very interesting documentary that goes into the history and some laws and how things work and why it is so hard for the little guy.

Also while not really a documentary, "The Universe" is a great show. Aired on the History Channel and 4 of the 5 seasons are available on Netflix. Awesome stuff if you enjoy looking up in the night sky and ever wonder, WTF.

My favorite docos would have to be by Alex Jones. After watching them, all the shit in the world made perfect sense...

I really enjoyed The Union. It's a doco on weed. I've even gotten a few family members to watch it:awesome:

I bet if I saw a few docos on psychedelics they would be right up there with my favorites. I've only seen Ibogaine: Rite of Passage. That was alright.

There was one on TLC years ago about the development of babies from conception up until, I don't remember exactly, but maybe 3-4 years.  Multi-part documentary, they showed like an hour a night for a few nights and advertised the shit out of it.

Pretty cool documentary, I'd watch it again if they aired it.

Word Wars.
Great fucking documentary. I am (or used to be) a hobbyist Scrabble player so I really enjoyed it, but either way it's really interesting. The characters are just weird and oddly engaging, plus it's a whole world that most people don't even realize exists. Scrabble is really similar to badminton to me actually. Tons and tons of people know the games, but very few realize the true intense nature and culture of the competitive aspects of them.

People play badminton at picnics and Scrabble with their grandmothers, but most people try and play me in either and their mind is blown at how serious the game can get. And I'm really not very good at either game relative to those who play much more often and take it more seriously than I do.

Gogol Bordello: Non-Stop
Quote:

Soak up the eclectic sounds of Gogol Bordello -- the New York City-based "gypsy punk" outfit headed by vibrant front man Eugene Hütz -- as filmmaker Margarita Jimeno takes you onstage and behind the scenes with the band from 2001-06. With musical influences running the gamut from klezmer to dub to the works of Hungarian composer Béla Bartók, the band generates a serious buzz as fans flock to their notoriously raucous shows.

^^I just saw it a few months ago, and I really enjoyed it.

Man I LOVE Bill Hicks but had no idea about that new documentary. That was amazing I learned so much more about him. Thanks for that.
