That's the subjective part. We(each of us) decides even if we let others (our culture) influence that decision. Ultimately those decisions of meaning are only personal and not profound. The Tao does not seem to give a fig.

How do you 'decide' 'meaning' ?

And just because 'meaning' is 'personal' how does that take away from the profundity of 'meaning'?

The Tao just iz.

You decide meaning with your brain. Most likely based on present and past experience.

Okay, so I decide meaning..

with my brain.

I am not my brain.

How do I decide meaning?

You indeed are your brain. Your self concept comes from your brain as far as we can tell.

What is the concept of 'self'?

You mean my identity comes from my brain?

I am not my brain, my brain is nothing without my lungs.

Your lungs are connected to your brain via a nervous system. Without the brain the lungs are useless. Basically imo the whole body is part of the "brain". It acts as a sensory apparatus for the brain.  You are your brain.

Try this, make your next post to me without involving your brain in any way.

Your right, my lungs are connected to my brain, not only via a nervous system, but circulatory as well.

Without the brain, the lungs are useless. Just as without the lungs the brain is useless.

Lack of oxygen in the brain, causes death.

Basically in your opinion, the whole body is part of the brain, I would agree with your opinion. That doesn't  mean I am my brain, or that I am my lungs.

That doesn't  mean I am my brain, or that I am my lungs.

I'm quite aware of that. Yet you can offer up nothing but opinion as to what you actually are. So lets be done here.

Science has shown that the brain through the nervous system is connected to every part of the body. My opinion is based on some evidence.

Again I ask. What are  you and how do  you know you are that? Just curious.

Sure, and I never said I disagreed with that.
