The Beatles were/are truly amazing. Although I can't say they're better than everything else, I do put them among the ranks of Floyd, Shpongle, Hendrix and Tool.

It is an interesting point really. I'd never say that any one band is the best of all time, but at the same time I don't think I could say that there is another band that are really much better than The Beatles.

yes. what i was hoping for was that someone would actually nominate a band or solo artist as being better than the beatles. i was trying to think of one.... but i just can't. i can't even think of anyone close. gaah the beatles are so good.

The thing about the beatles is...it seems like every song is kind of a parody. Not every song, but take the white album for instance. It's like they take a genre, and then make a song which is the epitome of that genre. "Yer blues" is a completely typical blues tune, "rocky racoon" is a folk song.. I heard they made this song in response to Bob Dylan's John Wesley Harding album...it makes sense because Dylan copied the Beatles' "Norwegian Wood" with "4th Time Around"...it's the same song but with Dylanized lyrics. Um..Ob-la-Di Ob-la-Da..is just "piano pop"...Helterskelter is the definition of a fast rocker. I suppose what i'm trying to say is that there is something very manufactured about the Beatles' music. At the end of helterskelter when ringo shouts out "I've got blisters on my fingers!"....it sounds like that line was scripted..something which the Who or the Stones would never do. I may be wrong though.
Still the beatles are one of my favourite bands of all time. I wouldn't say they are the best. They were all competent musicians, but they weren't exactly great live. Or even "good" for that matter. It's all about the melodies though.
Also, listening to the beatles while tripping provides a unique experience. In conclusion, I love the beatles.

Steve Miller kicks some major booty, not quite as much as The Beatles though.
