That dick head said all that and then probably went and drank whiskey and beat his wife.....I dont't even smoke pot and I think it should be legal, it would be waaay less of a scourge on society than booze.

"The leading causes of death in 2000 were tobacco (435,000 deaths; 18.1% of total US deaths), poor diet and physical inactivity (400,000 deaths; 16.6%), and alcohol consumption (85,000 deaths; 3.5%).
ZERO deaths have been recorded due to Marijuana in the United States, ever
i feel like it is a well known fact but that alone should be a contributing factor to the legalization of mj

nah, makes too much sense.
things that make too much sense arent really of use to the government, or opponents of MMJ.

so almost 40 percent of the deaths in the USA in 2000 were because of alcohol, fast food, and cigs.
heroin + meth + coke/crack + pcp + any hard drug doesnt even add up to a quarter of that.
reefer needs to be illegal tho bc it is a harmful and addictive drug with NO medical uses.

Not nearly a quarter.
All illegal drugs combined kill 17,000 people per year in the USA.
Since tobacco and fast food kill 835,000 per year and illegal drugs 17,000, heroin + meth + coke/crack + pcp + any hard drug kill 2% of what tobacco and fast food kill.

This comes back to the interests of pharmaceutical companies, tobacco producers, and alcohol...
Legal marijuana cuts into the potential market shares of all those groups with deep pockets and armies of lobbyists.
It is difficult for them to profit securely from marijuana given how easy it would be for people to self medicate were it legal for them to own. Telling people that they can't grow it for personal use would also be laughingly unenforceable.
