azures indoors, UVB will UVB lighting make it possible?
    #1318288 - 02/19/03 04:04 AM (21 years, 1 month ago)

 i waas thinking, maybe azures dont grow indoors because there is a lack of UVB lighting? Just a thought. By the way what humidity is needed for fruiting azures? I ordered spooress for my friend in bali and hes like as much info as possible, thanks.

i'm pretty sure they require living trees/plants around for some reason or another. maybe symbiotic relationship. all UV will do is cause mutations in mush and decay psilocybin faster

if temps where the only thing needed to trigger fruiting, anyone with a refrigerator could grow them indoors, there are likely quite a few things needed [edit: ok, mabey not all needed, but helpful], judged by the total lack of success.

A dedicated refridgerator with humidity, light and temperature control, yes.

Why don?t you try it?

Anno, you seem rather optomistic, are you aware of any success that i am not?

if one where to try it, it might be tricky to work out a good balance of humidity, airflow, and refrigeration. i'll keep an eye out for a small/cheap frige and see about some modifications if i get a chance, but i'm not agreeing to attempt cultivation at this time.

Two additional things I noticed about indoor azures... they have to have a casing layer and they seem to require more bulk. I wouldn't call my attempts a success. I never did get much in the way of fruit... mostly pins and a few aborts.

I know that they have been cultivated indoors from several sources, but it was either pure luck or a very sophisticated grow.

Every time low temperatures, good humidity and air exchange were involved.
In one case the aforementioned UV lights.(Black lights).

i'm hoping the deciding factor is luck, rather than skill, as i seem to have more of it.:)

I was thinking the same thing with my frig I would lay it on its side and go from there I already have heat,Humidty, air flow exhaust and intake fans and UV light in it I would just move the light on the door and fill with dirt from outside by compost pile then start a bed in there and see what happens But first I need to get a print then go from there.
here is my Incubator/growing chamber.

Here's one I used to incubate python eggs

It may work.

if you lay a refrigerator on it's side, the oil will drain out of the compressor, and would burn up in short order .

the compressor in a domestic refrigeration unit is hermetically sealed, and does not have contact with electrical circuits . so, you are correct on that .but without oil to lubricate the compressor, heat will destroy it .

the frig is gutted out no compressor or electrical circuits it's all heated by a helix controllor and Flex Watt heat tape the fans are on 24/7 for air flow light is on 12 off 12. laying it on its back would be great more room for the little garden,

here is my heat & light control

I have 1 flowhood and 2 exhaust fans hooked up all cover with filters I have the flowhood hooked up to my extra dry vent with hose running to it so it air from outside I haven't used it yet . I'm taking one of them small floor heater with the fan in it and hooking it up to the hose so the air will be heated not so damn cold like it is now here. BUt here is a picture of the idea..

fi the frige is gutted, heated, and only used as an incubator, then what does it have to do with fruiting azures? if i missed something i apologize.

how without the refrigeration units, will it work to keep the substrate at the necessary 40-50 degree temps?

It will bring the cool air from outside into the frig and that should keep it down in temp with my heat control I can keep the temp within a half of a degree what ever i set it at...

i guess in winter it may be possible, if you can pipe in freezing or near freezing air.
