It always helps (sure doesn't hurt) to leave the cakes in the jar for a week after colonization. You can give them light and take the temp down, but this helps with pin formation and you know its fully colonized.

i am a first time grower i did inject into the center rather than against the glass.will this cause issues for my cakes?

no it wont cause problems, it will just take longer before you see signs of growth. the reason we inject onto the side walls is so that we can see when it starts growing and monitor it a little bit.

Just make sure you have patience. Seriously- LOTS of patience.
