Recent hunt - lots of pics... mushrooms, ruins, sundews, orchids
    #13234656 - 09/23/10 06:17 AM (13 years, 4 months ago)

Went for a hunt earlier this week. It has been pretty dry recently, but I still found plenty of interesting things out there. I was hunting in some native forrest in the Victorian goldfields and came across these ruins of an old miners cottage (prob 100-150 yrs old).

Everyone seemed to like the sundew pics from my last hunt, so here are some more. This time I managed to find one (Drosera auriculata) that caught a fly.

And now for some mushrooms...
Here are some strange looking Laccaria that I found

A double headed Lichenomphalia chromacea

Stalked puffball (maybe a Tulostoma sp.)

Some Cheilymenia raripila on kangaroo poo

Inocybe sp.

A very stately looking Agaricus sp.

Growing from some Eucalypt bark (prob Hypsizygus ulmarius)

A cool looking coral - Ramaria sp

Another Laccaria and a birds nest fungus (Nidula sp.?)

A big fat Boletus - bruised a very dark blue, almost black

Cortinarius sp.

Coprinellus sp.

And finally some native orchids...
Leopard Orchid aka Donkey Orchid (Diuris pardina)

Wax-lip Orchid (Glossodia major)

Hope you all enjoyed

P.S. sorry for another long thread

Great pictures!

I am considering inviting all the really good photographers on this site to Mexico next year so we can really get some good mushroom pictures.  It would be you, Lord Mayonnaise, Inski, Bobzimmer, GeorgeM, Inski, Cactu, Mikael and Koraks.

Or if you can do it next week that would be cool too....

Thanks everyone

Alan, that sounds awesome! If I can save the money I'll be there... I wish I could do it next week . Mexico is definitely on my list of places to go, and all your recent pics have been making me envious.
