my dogs jars are almost finished colonizing. but for the last 1.5 inches, its taken almost 3 weeks!!!!!!!!!! my dogs jar is covered with aluminum *sp?* foil. is there enough gas with just the aluminum foil on, or should i crack it open just a tad?  thanks :grin:

just aluminum foil, no cap? Hm. Well, you could try to poke a few small holes in the foil, and flip them over. This should help the last inch get colonized. If its not air exchange, but lack of moisture,  that wont help. Sorry i couldnt be more helpful  :crazy:

Three weeks is quite some time. Have you continued to notice growth (albeit very slow)? If you have I would just let them sit, if not, you may have a problem with the amount of water in your jars.

are you heating from the bottom or top? my friend in bali was heating from the bottom, and even though he had good gas exchange the myc stalled, just like yours. I think it might have been caused by too much heat at the bottom, because when the heat source was removed and the mushies were put to room temp they started up again. It might have been an odd coincidence, but its still something to think about.

yes, there is continual growth, but my dog says its going very, very, very slowly. the amount of water might be a problem. the cakes do look pretty dry.....think it would be allright to inject the cake w/ sterile (boiled) water? my dog is planning on giving the cake a good 12 hour dunk on its birth day.....but i want to let it finish colonizing.................. :confused:
