when you say upgrade how do you mean? does the whole damn box needs to be replaced. bTW, I've always wondered what kind of hardware we are being served with. If I were to donate would I be able to specify my donation to be used for upgrading the server?

Well we don't want people donating parts we can't use. Most of the things we use are highend parts. The RAM we use is Registered ECC PC2100 DDR modules. There are also Unregistered NonECC out there that won't work in our motherboard. We are looking to get 2 new 1 GB sticks and most likely will be buying them this month.

Current setup:

Tyan Tiger MP motherboard
1GB Registered ECC PC2100 DDR
2 - AMD MP 1800+ CPUs
1 - 36GB 15,000 RPM SCSI Seagate Cheetah Hard drive.

The upgrades that will probably happen to this box will be getting a matching harddrive and upgrading the RAM. The fastest AMD MP that will work on this motherboard is an MP 1900+ so I don't really see a need to upgrade the processors.

In the future we will most likely build a second box dedicated to MySQL.

when i was talking about donations I was referring to $$$, would i be able to require the $$$ i donate be used for server hardware?
