fruiting trays too early
    #13213119 - 09/18/10 08:13 AM (13 years, 4 months ago)

I fruited two large trays of bulk too early. Do I take them out of the FC and wrap them back up to colonize, or do I just leave them in there and hope I didn't mess this up? The myc doesn't seem to be colonizing anymore.

You want a high CO2 level during colonization, so it's best to keep them wrapped up.

they have probably started pinning and therefor slowed way down on the colonizing. I'm not the leading expert, but I'd say the damage is done and you should let them go and hope for some fruits. Any contaminants are already there now and putting them back in the bag will incourage the contams to grow faster IMO

I figured as much. This hobby is definitely teaching me patience... even if it is at the expense of a bulk sub and hard work.

Paduca I love your morel pictures, I wish I could find them here.

they are pretty rare here, also. I only know of one spot they grow, and thats because an old man told me where they were. I've yet to just happen upon any, and I'm out there a lot!

All kind of things season is now. Wood-lovers, dung-lovers grass-lovers mycorrizial species you are libel to find them anywhere, it just depends on the species, and when they fruit.
