Sterile Syringe Caps

Where do I get sterile syringe caps online or in Ohio?
I'm making spore syringes up for friends and want to use caps so it is more professional.
Also, what is the benefit of using the caps? Are they really needed?
I already have boxes long enough to fit the spore syringes.

Syringe tip caps seal the end of the syringe from contamination. If you ship it in a baggie with a needle on it, you're asking for trouble.

when you buy the syringes(the actual needle part) at Tractor supply or any animal feed store, they come in little sealed containers which are also the caps.

The syringe is the barrel or body. The movable part is called the plunger. The cannula, or needle, generally comes with a cap that covers but does not seal it. Best practice is to use a syringe tip cap (often blue) on any syringe you prepare but aren't planning to use immediately.

PF never used a syringe Cap, he just threw them in cardboard boxes with newspaper, not even a piece of tape.
Boxtop (TLG) used clean ziplock bags and some colored electrical tape to seal.
My friend never had any issues as I see him just seal the syringe into a sterile plastic bag.
It think only ralph and sporeworks use the blue BD caps.
What do you think is best? Is it worth the extra fifteen cents / syringe?

Well the only syringes I have ever received that were contaminated were in needle on packages. I would imagine you should ask yourself

I go to a place that sells medical equipment, like wheelchairs, special seats, diabetic stuff, etc. They sell me boxes with 100 capped needles that come wrapped individually real cheap, something like 5$. The syringe itself is a little more expensive but comes similarly packaged at about 50c a piece.

That place should also have the syringe caps as a separate item. Again, needle caps don't necessarily seal the sterile pathway.

uhhg this thread reeks of people that don't know what there is being talked about!

these are the Caps that twist on the end of the syringe, where normally the needle would go. The needle itself with a cap doesn't seal the syringe, and contaminants can still find their way inside. With a cap it's 100% foolproof, you can ship through the mail and don't have to keep the syringe in a upright position, so that no fluid runs down the needle. This only happens when forces are applied to it, such as moving it around, dropping it etc.

You need to pay attention to detail Rave 420....

In this situation you could use a little piece of scotch tape to wrap around where the hub of the needle attaches to the barrel.
When shipping spore syringes a small piece of parafilm is used to wrap around where the hub of the needle attaches to the barrel to keep out contaminates.

In the past, micropore tape was also used to seal the cap where the needle attaches to the barrel.

I get mine off ebay in the UK.
Pretty much with anything I buy on ebay that isnt on auction I message the seller ans see if they will sell outside of ebay and paypal. that way they save on fees and that saves me money. I usually send as a gift so it cost me 1.50 extra but I ussually save more money than that.
Sorry for the off topic.
Caps on lock syringes with parafilm in a baggie in a box taped up = win.
