I think there should be some distinction between being for racism and believing that racism should be allowed.

Istitutional racism should not be allowed. Individuals should be allowed to believe whatever stupid shit they want to believe.

I'm guessing that was supposed to satire the libertarian notion that we can get rid of all civil rights legislation and the benevolent, holy and invisible hand of the market will make everything better for everyone.

It's a stupid notion. But the satire here isn't crystal clear.

Yeah the messaging is libertarians are often just racist morons who think the GOP isnt racist enough.

They clearly dont have a sound economic philosophy otherwise they wouldnt be libertarians.

Clearly if they had sound economic philosophy they would certainly be anarchist communists  :loldongs:

I would say per capita there is far more "greedy" people in the first world than anywhere close to the third; just because of our standard of living.

Things we take as a given are often luxury items elsewhere, thus making us the greedy ones who are unable to see this.

You're missing the point, the reason why those countries are shitholes are because of the greed from the top, their leaders have failed them. They have more inequality than first world nations as a result.

Having a first world standard of living isn't being greedy, it's just living in a nation that values every person much more than a human in a third world country.

What people like Clint like to do is rationalize the greed and corruption in those nations and then conveniently blame it on the West.

Nah youre just ignorant of the history of imperialism because it makes it way more convenient for you to blame the poor and powerless for the world's problems.

Who's blaming "the poor and powerless", the leadership/elite in those nations should be held accountable for the treatment of their people, yet people like yourself find it more convenient to blame the West.

In your line of reasoning, there's no rich or powerful people in those nations, but nothing could be further from the truth. Let's blame people that live thousands of miles away for the inequality that exists in a their third world nation.

Yeah lets pretend the US doesnt occupy, destabilize, overthrow, and sanction other nations "because theyre too far away."

Idk how we even got to the middle east. Do you know how far that is?! Impossible. Theres like a whole ocean.

Also: what are boats? Whats global trade? Are airplanes real or an optical illusion? How does the IMF and World Bank operate in the third world? Do they have to walk there from Europe with a briefcase full of euros?

I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

Deep down he has to realize that imperialism has existed, and still exists on a massive scale.

But acknowledging that fact would upset his increasingly contradictory worldview: America got rich all on its own, all these other countries are just too stupid to become superpowers.

What accountability do the leadership/elite (in those nations) have for the conditions in those nations?  They're certainly not poor and powerless, why do they get a free ride from you guys?  They're victims right?
