Word of warning about working around your sink!!!
    #1310658 - 02/15/03 08:24 PM (21 years, 1 month ago)

Always use a strainer over the drain to your sink or disposal when working with Straw and Verm...etc. !!!!!!!

I was making up some straw last night and some got down in my disposal...talk about a cluster fuck!!!!!!!

I spent 4 hours last night and this morning cleaning out my disposal and pipes.
I had to pull my sink all the fricken way apart.
I  used a professional (Ridgid electric drill) snake that I just happened to have...thank God!
I snaked the pipe from the sink down to the trap in my basement...then out from the trap to the sewer line in the street....talk about a pain in the ass!!!

Straw doesn't chop up too well in the disposal!!!
And I'm sure all the Verm in the pipes over the past year and a half didn't help either!!!
:frown:

Just thought I'd share my misfortune.... so you might be saved from this major pain in the ass!!!

Take it from an Ex pipe fitter!
You probably would have had to call a plumber!

WTF?!?!? While I work over the sink, anything that gets picthed gets slung in great circular arcs into my yard. I wouldn't want to risk clogging my pipe and that stuff is nutrition for your yard. WTF?!?!

I got a bunch of stuff stuck in the p trap under my sink.
luckly after a few turns it was a str8t shot to the septic.

I drilled a hole in a plunger just a size smaller than the end of a air blow off tool for a air comp.
I stuck the plunger on the drain and had my PSI up on 120PSI
It took a few blasts and it blew it on thru the pipe.

I figured i'd try something simple first then snake it but the air worked this time.
Although I did get busted in the face by the air hose.
Next time we check and make sure the quick connect it locked in place good.

Sorta

I was a Pipe fitter / Welder...so I can pretty much do anything a plumber does.
I worked on ships, large plants and boilers rather than homes.

I do have a Plumbers card...but really haven't ever worked as one.
