A slow cooker is like a crock pot and a countertop roaster is like a turkey roaster. The later is much larger.

Actually, all you need to do is go to the auto store and pick up 10 feet of 1/4 inch fuel line hose, and hook it up to the rubbermaid tote and the pc. I saw that RR recomended somewhere, maybe even in that thread. I have done it this way for about 400 lbs of sud over the past year. hasn't failed me yet
that is the coolest idea ever!
do you have a close up shot of the hose?
do you have to mod it to fit the PC nicely?
would a cooler get to hot using this method?

I'm sure you could get a slow cooker that was the same size as a Countertop roaster....
They are usually made w/ ceramic beds though and considerably more expensive that their counter (no pun intended) part!

I've never seen a slow cooker with a temperature dial. They operate at a fixed temp i'm pretty sure. dunno what the temp is.

Actually the hose is 3/16th for the presto 23 A cooler might get to hot without the vent modded into it. I'm going to make one next week so wee'll see. The rubbermade tote works great with blankets to insulate it though. I dont use ant clamps to holds the hose on to the pc., it just fits on there. On the tote side I use a barbed fitting found at hd.
Ill post that pic in a sec

That is a very good idea!
Inexpensive, easy and should work amazing with a BIG cooler too.

Been doing it for years. I've got a much larger setup now, but for indoor use, that works great for small amounts. RR

Right on RR, you were the time saving inspiration for me so thanks, I did have a question for you though. Is the dispersal wand at the bottom necessary or can the tubing just be fitted to the tote with the same results? I ask becase the tubing always deforms a little even with cpvc, and before making another out of copper I'd like to know if I'm wastin my time.

^ ^ ^ Good question! I'd like to know too.
I was thinking of using copper tubing with the end crimped and a bunch of little holes drilled in the tube as a 'dispersal wand'.
I imagine a dispersal wand would be ideal, but critical?

Wow thanks for the ratings everyone.....maybe I'll make a formal tec (it would be my first) with a modded cooler if so many have missed that info. But really I take no credit for it, as RR said, it's been done before. I've used live steam in some of my furniture pieces to bend wood, but when i saw his post a little bulb went on in my head....lol

This thing works decent.
But doesn't hold a candle to the pc + tubing idea. I wish I'd read that sooner. It's such an elegant solution.

Loving where this is going. I like the pc with a tube and a tub idea. Most of us have everything but the tubing laying around.
I'm curios about the wand too.
