Straw screw up? I hope not
    #1319025 - 02/19/03 08:50 AM (21 years, 8 days ago)

Ok, my friend said one of his friends thinks he might have fucked up some straw casings. By accident and absent mindedness, he put a 1 inch casing layer on top (straight verm). When he noticed that it kept drying out too much and the mycelium was not colonizing the layer (it really took to the straw) he freaked out and scraped off excess verm, misted heavily, put into the fruiting chamber with hopes of inducing pinning. The conditions are 90%humidity and around 70-75 degrees, with plenty of indirect light, this is 10 degrees cooler than where the casings were incubating. After 4 days nothing has really happened and this guy fears all is lost, but as of yet no sign of contams. Any advice? Is all lost, or does anybody think they will pin? Thanks a lot

as long as you don't see contams,
you still have a chance to survive.

if your casing layer continues to dry
out excessively, you should consider
bolstering the humidity in your fruiting
chamber with perlite or some other
means.

good luck.

Your humidity should be =>95F for pin initiation. Read this.

More frequent light mistings are preferable to heavy mistings.
