spore clumping and germination

This may not quite be advanced, but here goes anyway.

When making a syringe with a light print, and innoculating agar, what are the chances of a single spore germinating versus a clump germinating together. I know spores have the tendency to clump together, but to what degree? Is it something along the lines of a bond which is relatively tough to break apart? If a plate were innoculated, and germination appears at one point only, what are the chances that the resulting mycelium is monokariotic?

There are steps you can take to reduce clumping such as using detergents and blending the spores. You would make various dilutions to determine the proper spore concentration to plate.

I was really just worried that the only germination point was monokaryotic, but since the original post more spots have germinated, so I'm not erally worried anymore :wink:  In the case I was talking about, I was actually hoping that the spores DID clump.. **shrug**

Usually spores on agar take a bit longer to germinate in my experience than other substrates.
