Let me know how it goes..
I think fallout 3 was the greatest game ever created. The combat, story and playstyle was amazing. I loved oblivion and then fallout came out which basically was oblivion (WITH GUNS!)

Is it supposed to be a full-game sized expansion?

not an expansion, a new game in the series, with more features.

From what i've heard should be releasing this oct.

Unfortunately it is not being created by Bethesda (oblivion, fallout 3) but supposedly will till be running on the same basic engine. I fucking LOVED fallout3 so im really excited for this. Anyone else?

yes. no bethesda is a good thing. they tried to ruin the fallout series.

hopefully we get a bit of the old fallout dark humour back.. bethesda tried to keep it but they definitally toned that shit down A LOT. totally ruined it for me.

everything fallout about it was awesome. the similarities i saw between it and oblivion, was not.

It's not doing well critically... averaging about 80% or so... maybe a little more.  I figured it'd pull a Bioshock 2 and be mediocre by comparison to Fallout 3.

So far seems a lot like Fallout 3, but I like that you look down the gun sights which FO3 didn't have.

Nothing to complain about, seems like a solid game.(playing on PC btw)

pretty sure you don't understand percentages.  80% is pretty damn good.  even games getting 60-70% could still be good and fun to play.

I just looked and it's actually averaging around 85%, which means around half the places are giving it a 9/10 which is great and half are giving it an 8/10 which is still really good.

Yeah, it's a little buggy so far, which is probably the reason for the 80%, but I bet in a week or two once they are all fixed it will be perfect.

Even with the few, and not game breaking bugs I've encountered, it is still a fun game no doubt.

well its basically fallout 3 all over again so of course it's really buggy.  if any patches fix that, I'll be surprised.  are you on 360 or ps3?  I hear the load times on 360 even with full install are like 30 seconds every time you get on the world map plus serious slowdown for a few seconds afterward.

PC, the only things I have really noticed are some audio glitches, and not being able to change the video settings.

It is a little choppy, but once they let me mess around with the settings then it should be good.

edit: what I mean with the settings is that I can change them, but what I change doesn't save, so they are stuck in default mode.

Pretty sure I do understand percentages.  While 84% (it's currently metacritic score) is well above average, it isn't that fantastic for an uber-hyped sequel to a blockbuster game like Fallout 3.  Series like Zelda, GTA, Mario, GoW, Mass Effect, etc. generally maintain a level of ingenuity and freshness that keeps the core sequels and follow-ups in the 90%+ which is excellent.  I personally have a high level of expectation for games in franchises I like because I don't like to waste 60 bucks on a game that's less than fantastic.

here's a short list of some of the best games with less than 90% scores(on gamerankings.com), proving your theory retarded as fuck:
dragon quest VIII
elder scrolls III morrowind
half life 2
mass effect
castlevania symphony of the night
heavy rain
final fantasy viii
resident evil
dead space
beyond good and evil
bioshock 2
kingdom hearts
diablo 2
borderlands
metal gear solid 2
tales of symphonia
call of duty 2
castlevania lords of shadow
rogue galaxy
grand theft auto episodes from liberty city

so if you've pruchased or played any of these games and enjoyed it you're full of it.

Big reviewing sites do not rate games on weather they are actually good or not, it depends on the money dumped into the sites for advertising. Completely rotten games have gotten excellent scores simply for advertising on said review site.
