This sounded like a joke, but its funny because its true. OP did over-generalize, but we all get what he is talking about. Most the time I don't want to listen to the crappy poppy hip hop whatever. I don't understand people that listen to it all the time. But the truth is, its great shit for getting drunk with bitches!
When I wanna chill out and trip maybe i'll listen to something that fits that mood, like Shpongle or Beethoven. If i'm doing any opiates, I listen to something mellow and usually acoustic, like Velvet Underground for example. I can smoke weed and find absolutely anything enjoyable, maybe throw on some 90's pop rock or some fucking rock and roll mcdonalds, who cares. But sober I get bored with most things other than Jazz and Classic Rock. I can't stand repetition, I guess some people can.

This is my point. I guess it is good for getting drunk with bitches, but once in awhile it's pleasant when a hot chick wants to listen to something other than rap or country music while drinking. Depends on the crowd I guess too.
And it's not the repetition that gets me, it's the repetition of the same EXACT songs over and over til everyone knows every word. If repetition turned me off to music, then I wouldn't be able to stand the blues, at all. Most blues has similar structure, but there's a uniqueness to it all that I appreciate moreso than with most rap and hip-hop that I hear.
The fact that they played Miley Cyrus for a whole semester at the clubs is enough to prove my point. Party in the USA, let's face it, was fucking catchy.

Charles Hamilton & Immortal Technique are about all the rap I can stomach lately. It's amazing how little rap has progressed in the last 10 years.

I agree with most of you that most mainstream hip hop is complete and utter garbage. It's some of the worst music that you can possibly find being played widely.
Why it is so popular, I have no clue. I tend to believe that most people are fairly stupid, and that would go a long way toward explaining it.
Some of you said it's good for getting drunk with bitches. Why do you think that is?? I think it sounds like shit 100% of the time, no matter how drunk I am. It's just so completely banal, shallow as can be, and simplistic most of the time.
But as others have also said, there is great hip hop/rap out there as well. You just have to look for it. And it'll probably never be as popular as stupid shit like 50 cent and the like.

You just answered your own question. Drunk bitches is probably an offensive term to women who aren't drunk bitches. Drunk bitches are banal, shallow and simplistic. Besides that the solid, bumpin beats come at a steady and static tempo that is fast enough to keep up the energy but slow enough for drunkards to keep up.
edit: I'm talking about dancing. Can't dance to Pink Floyd.
