Memories of buds past....
    #13164477 - 09/08/10 10:48 AM (13 years, 6 months ago)

I was just thinking about how great it was back in the day(before becoming engaged), when I was able to grow various things indoors and out with little worry....

The outdoor plant in the first picture is of what I think was my favourite of all my years of growing...

I hope these photos all work....  Here is a link to a gallery with some more: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/usergallery.php/gallery/9600/imgpp/96/folder/pot

there are even some from my early days in there, when all I had to take photos was a crappy webcam.... but they still look pretty damn beautiful, even in the webcam shots, if I do say so myself. Check it out.

Anyone else have any stories or photos of memorable or interesting grows?

Might not be the right forum for this thread, I wasn't sure, it's been a while.
So feel free to move it if need be.

The indoor ones that I shot with the digital camera were supposedly a strain of 'Northern Lights' that a longtime friend gave me. As far as the outdoor, and most of the others in the gallery..... they were a variety of different strains, and I can't really remember which ones are which.

edit: nice saguaro avatar.

Ah, nope, no more cannabis growing for me. I will stick with growing sweet banana peppers, tomatoes, jalapenos and stuff like that for my killer sonoran salsa... and my peach and nectarine trees, as well as all my cacti, which I am OVERWHELMED with.... I wonder if anyone on here would want some nice green healthy Trichocereus Pachnoi, and Trichocereus Macrogonus cuttings, I'd happily send some cacti to folks if they covered the shipping.... well I'd have to see how much it would cost to ship first... I will have to see on that one...no promises.... but I gotta do something with them all.... and giving them to people who will take care of them better than I currently can sounds like the best option. That Trichocereus Macrogonus sure is painful when you get stuck with it... the stickers have a lingering painful poison, that hurts for a while. Also hard to handle, being so stickery.

I grew out some autoflower strain this past year, and it was suprisingly good, I wanna try some of the other ones, but all my indoor equipment was destroyed by a crazy ex gf, I will get around to it again soon enough. I also grew out alot of habanero, datil, jalapeno, and banana peppers this year. Made a bunch of salsa and jarred the rest, shit is rewarding.

Ouch, what type of indoor setup did you have?

Hell yeah, homemade salsa with several types of peppers is great.... especially those 'sweet banana peppers' they aren't sweet, but are unique... whats also good is chopping up a bunch of several types of peppers, depending on how spicy you want it, chopping them into little tiny bits, and putting them on a crisped tortilla, then covering them with Mexican four cheese blend, and melting the cheese onto the peppers... makes for the best quesadillas I have ever had or made. Especially when the tortilla is crispy.... not like those floppy fold over quesadillas you see.... I am not a fan of those...

**edit**
And nothing washes down spicy salsa like this '100 Plus' stuff. Isotonic drink, choice of the Malaysian Olympic team. It's really good, I got a case a while back. It's like all the benefits of gatorade, without that shitty gatorade taste that all gatorade flavors have.
Plus, its Halal! (that's like 'Kosher' for muslims.)

Here is a shot of one of my cacti areas, all are Trichocereus except for the one right in the center, closest to the bottom of the photo. As you can see from the Pachnoi in the backround, all need to be planted, I'm working on a nice fenced in area for alot of them, so the wild javelina don"t eat them.... I think they stay away from them though, I've only planted one without fencing, and it looks like they may have taken a couple nibbles, and left it.
The ones that look fuzzier, with more stickers, are the trichocereus macrogonus, I don't know why but I have always liked these, maybe because everytime I have taken a cutting from one, like 8 pups come out instead of just one. Like the one in the white pot closest to the blue corner of the house, there are 9 individual pups coming out on that cacti since I cut about 18 inches off. Most the pups are visible in that cluster on the left side of the pot it is in, near the Argentine Saguaro.  I shrunk the photos.

The one with 9 pups.

This one is kinda long and scraggly, it broke way down low last year, and has grown a bunch of pups, I don't even know how many, since some are hidden beneath others.

And another shot of part of the group

This STAPELIA (probably S. grandiflora) grows beautiful flowers, and roots easily from cuttings in a mostly cactus soil, maybe a little bit of potting soil mix, but needs a bit less water than cacti. Notice how pretty the flowers and buds are, mine has been flowering for many months and is still covered in new buds even though it needs to be transplanted bad. It is related to the type that, or a version of the type of plant that often has smelly flowers, that smell like sulfur, but this one, has no odor, I can stick my nose into the flower, and you don't smell a thing.
All these cacti, including the trichocereus will be susceptible to frost this winter if you live somewhere cold and have them outdoors... we get frost even here in the desert though so in the future you might want to throw some burlap over them if they are exposed in the winter, or pull the pots under a porch or something... of course they won't start to grow untill next spring, since they go dormant during the winter.

amenra, just PM me your email address or something.

Sorry Cactusdan, I hope my talk of giving away some cuttings that I have nothing useful to do with isn't considered 'trade talk'. There really isn't any 'trade involved' there I suppose.... I'd just hate for my info about my cacti to be deleted in my post.

Sadly it is.

I tried my best to not delete any information when editing however and even added a possible ID for you on the succulent with the "beautiful flowers".

Any talk of giveaways or trading is best kept via pm, journal, or the marketplace.

I'm sorry about that mate... I didn't start this thread with any intent of giving stuff away, just thought I could help some folks get their own cacti gardens going.
I do appreciate you editing up my post and leaving the important info and getting it all up to code. Thanks a bunch for not just deleting the whole post. Also thanks for the ID on the cacti/succulent, it's quite an interesting and hardy plant, and now I know what to call it.

I will make sure to keep any talk of giveaways, trades, et cetera in PM or the marketplace you spoke of.

I started this thread hoping people would show their own pictures of past buds they cutivated and enjoyed. Maybe someone can get it back on topic.....

Not a problem mate.

I wish I had some previous buds to post up here, but I know some people must!

Well thanks. I know someone out there has some good shots of some memorable buds.

This first one here, I grew a long time ago, indoors. I didn't have a digital camera at the time... this guy turned into a really thick beast, very nice....

and this next one, kinda went bonsai style, and veged, flowered, and finished at only about 6 - 8 inches high, without any human intervention... as you can see in the pic several weeks before harvesting. At least I had my digital camera at that point.

back on topic....

Initiate flowering at 12. Finished height around 18 inches.

The Northern Lights was an experiment that ended up being 5 foot 4 inches when finished.
