System question
    #1309669 - 02/15/03 09:13 AM (21 years, 1 month ago)

Ok I just finished hooking up my system and doing a test run.

This is it basicly when this pic was taken the coolmist wasn't installed yet.

The coolmist hooks into the t on the CPVC pipe the clear line from the cool mist is about 3/4od by 5 inches long to the T

When running this system empty I am able to get humidity up to around 80% with nothing in eather tank.

I know my dung/straw casings will add some humidity does this seem about right or do you think I need to tweek it some more?

I have room if needed 2 add a small bowl of perlite to each tank.

looks  those inline valves are a grate idea to regulate rh . no need for a timer aye . let us know how it does
some perlite in a bowl would help bring the rh up and can be removed after pinning .another good idea .

by putting an aquarium heater inside the coolmist,it increases the amount of moisture that the air can hold (increasing rh). Read my link below.

Papasmurf:
Does it stay at around 86F, or does the water temp drop off after a while? I would think that the constant intake of cooler air (maybe around 68-72F), would cause the water to get colder.

If the water temp stays up higher through the time its on, that sounds like a really good idea to get your rH higher from a humidifier.

Chills420:
Your system looks very nice. I hope it works out for you. I would think that if the humidifier does not do the trick on getting humidity up to 95% during primordia formation, you might just want to have it on for about 10 minutes every 2-4 hours, as the natural evaporation from the casings, mistings and perlite will increase humidity.

Then set the humidifier on longer periods when they have formed.

Hey, if you put an airstone constantly running inside any enclosed area (and airstone submerged in water) ur RH will be 99%+.
Just a tidbit if info for you

I figured I'd update this as I have fixed all the problems.

Heating the water in the cool mist really did the trick.
I also found another way to heat it.
It just so happened there was a heating vent in the floor about a foot away from the cool mist.
I just put a nice little filter over the stock filter on the cool mist and set it on top of the vent. It's running both tanks with no problem at all.
I actually feel it could prob handle 2 more but i'd have to re plumb it.
The ball valves make a big diff. in setting.
