I've had experiences that have crossed the line of faith - but I do have faith that Enlightenment can be sustained by a human being, or whatever a human being turns into afterward, or when time ceases to exist.

Once you get a taste of enlightenment its no longer a matter of faith, but a matter of time.
I like that quote.

There is the direct way, which is to recognize the self. Then there is the long way, which requires faith, devotion, practise, etc.
If it feels unnatural to put your trust on "external" teachers and, figuratibely speaking, eat the whole moldy bread of dogma just to get penicillin for your problems, then simply recognize that you are aware of consciousness and that everything you ever will experience is consciousness and that you are awareness observing the play of consciousness. Then any practise or quest you seem to take up will be part of the play of consciousness manifesting itself by itself in your presense rather than the mission of your existence.
No faith is required for you to exist and for consciousness to manifest itself through your bodymind, though relatively speaking it can be helpful to put your faith in something you project your higher self on, such as Jesus, Buddha or some abstraction you simply perceive at times as the intuitive force beyond the limitations of the human intellect.

This is it, experience takes you beyond faith, then maybe faith comes into play when the experience ends, is forgotten about & the old mind play comes back in, then faith or investigation can come into play, bhakti/devotion/surrender or vichara/inquiry/meditation, two sides of the same coin, defeating the mind is the obstacle, which in a way is a paradox as defeating the mind is to not engage in it, to not fight it, its a battle won through keeping quiet & keeping aware of your true nature, or totally surrendering.
I wouldnt say enlightenment can be sustained by a human being though, its more death of the human being than sustainence, its more seeing it can never be 'mine' and dying into that already here-ness, which is really great as ifits already here that's the greatest gift possible, existence is very generous in this way, even ifit takes everything away from you, 'this' is still here
Tony said it good too! Just seeing that you are aware of the play of consciousness, how powerful...
