I'm in Chesterfield right now. You're about 120 miles closer, give or take.

Oh okay, I'm under a tropical storm warning right now but I doubt I'll see a gust above 30 MPH.  Earl was a strong cat 4 at 140 MPH this time last night.  Now he's a dying cat 2 with 100 MPH winds and headed east (away from the coast).  I was hoping for some sort of chase.

It's been nice and cool the past couple nights in Florida, felt like hints of fall.
Thanks Earl.

I'm a bit disappointed too... I love me a good hurricane.

Isabel was awesome

Gaston was pretty good too... although that was a tropical storm when it hit. I drove my car into a washed out bridge while on mushrooms during that whole ordeal.

That was Hurricane Isabel when she was a cat 5.  This was back in 2003.  But what really made Isabel odd as a cat 5 are the 5 to 6 rotating eyes circling the giant eye wall.

Landfall was a cat 2 in NC then a cat 1 into VA but with a huge wind field.

I still remember that night... Some asshole was driving around the neighborhood during the full brunt of the storm. A tree fell and knocked off most of the front end of his Expedition right in front of my house.

We found pieces of his bumper all down the street...

It's kind of unrelated but wtf is up with names for hurricanes!? All the ones I've heard sound like names that would suit angry old people.. Katrina.. Igor.. Fiona.. Walter... and now Earl.. :ifyoucanawe:

seems like someone told me they name them after saints or something like that, but these days it seems like you'd run out of names pretty quick

They have to retire the good storms so after a while the names get a little strange.
