I just woke up from the most beautiful amazing lucid dream ever

I'm still in awe by how absolutely beautiful this experience was, and how powerfully joyful it felt. Sorry its kind of long but if you're into lucid dreaming at all, this is the kind of stuff aspiring lucid dreamers drool over. i think its my longest stably lucid dream to date, and interestingly I remember the dream had already been in progress for what felt like at least a half hour before I realized i was dreaming.
I became lucid when I found myself standing at the edge of a large pond whose shore was right up near the back porch of sort of a large bamboo hut type house with an open back. it was lit by firelight against the fading twilight sun and I was standing around with an elderly asian man and one or two of his family. the pond was full of these glowing giant mushroom cap shaped lily pad type things that were floating at the surface. I got up onto one and looked down into the clear shallow water. as usual in lucid dreams, I'm completely taken aback at how completely real, utterly detailed and shockingly beautiful every part of the scenery was, all the way down to the pebbles at the bottom of the pond and the effect of looking through the rippling water.
Off at the far end of the pond was a long wooden bridge that lead out to what looked like the ocean so I took off flying toward it and skimmed the water below the bridge.. on the other side it was morning daylight I landed and found myself in what must have been the lobby of the most amazingly gorgeous resort hotel ever conceived in dream or reality. The architecture blended seamlessly with the tropical scenery and plant life to the point where I didn't know whether I was indoors or out. There were people milling around all over and I was staggered by the complexity of the scene. Standing in the open air lobby, looking out at all the other buildings of an unimaginably large and complex coastal island city. It looked very very futuristic but used mostly traditional construction materials (like wood and bamboo) for what seemed like a south asian island nation.
I took off flying again, this time straight upward to get a better vantage point on this seemingly infinitely large city. It was honestly the most joyful feeling I've ever experienced looking down on all that. total freedom, pure unbounded joy, utter awe at the unmatched beauty, complexity and just.. perfection of the place I was experiencing. I flew off under a couple more bridges, each time coming out in a slightly different scenery, with different lighting (morning, later afternoon, midnight, dawn) and more unbelievably complex and stable (for a dream) scenery and architecture. This probably lasted a good (what felt like) 20 minutes in the dream.
At one point I found myself back in another area of the giant resort hotel which seemed to be the hub of this area of the city. I came upon a band in another lobby area and picked up a guitar and started jamming with them. I've been playing guitar in real life for 11 years so when I play in dreams, the instrument works like it should (early on in my guitar playing in lucid dreams, the notes never matched to what i was fingering). We jammed two songs out spontaneously, which were mainly orchestrated by my mind and my guitar playing. but I didn't have to consciously think of details like the bassline and the drum parts. the other guys kinda just filled those in for me, I just willed the basic sound of what I wanted to hear and they played it while i played lead on guitar. That lasted a good 5 to 7 minutes of dream time, which is amazing to me, just how stable and coherent this entire dream was.
I got bored with the jam session and decided to explore again. I took off into the air flying at breakneck speed up over the city, across the clouds, back down over the water and the bridges out to the small islands dotting the coastline around the city. I felt I wanted to see what it'd be like to explore underwater but as soon as I went crashing below the surface the dream dissolved into blue and i woke up.
I'm still in awe of this. I've been having lucid dreams regularly since i was around 12 and I've seen some amazing things. But Im pretty sure this one tops the list by a long shot. If theres an afterlife, this is my place in heaven for sure. I'd give anything to trade my dreaming life for reality. I really wish I had the artistic skills to recreate even one scene from this dream and do it justice. I want to live there so fucking bad.
I've never felt so free, so completely filled with joy and excitement, and so amazed at the indescribable beauty and complexity that our minds can create every single night while we sleep! Lucid dreaming is by far a better, more intense, more spiritual and powerful consciousness changing experience than any trip I've ever taken with drugs. I imagine DMT could be potentially that beautiful but I don't think I'd be able to stay there for long enough to explore and take it all in and really experience this magical place... god damn i'm still in shock from this. its been a week or two since I've had a lucid dream.

How important would you say writing down your dreams is if you want to become a lucid dreamer?

Amazing man! Your description brought me right there! It's funny, the beautiful resort-dream is common among my dreams too. I think one of my first lucid dreams ever was at a place similar to your description. I've often speculated I was tuning into some sort of afterlife or perhaps other lives in more peaceful times - or simply astral environments which are accessible to us. An author I like a lot, Robert Moss, insists that "dream places are real places"... and I think I'm inclined to agree.

Of the utmost importance. You can't experience what you can't remember. I personally use a digital voice recorder and then transcribe on my computer the following morning.

thats the same feeling I got. a lot of dreams locales are constantly changing and shifting but this one was incredibly stable. When i woke up i found myself optimistically hoping that it actually was a real place.. some sort of afterlife, astral or heavenly realm. If so, I'm sure thats where I'll be heading to as soon as possible after I die hah.
I have a few other dreams with spectacular locales like this, and another main difference from other dreams aside from the stability and coherence of the scenery is that there are always lots and lots of other people there going about their business. most times in lucid dreams, the dream characters just stop talking and moving and just stand there with blank stares after I become lucid. but in these cases, the people keep going about their business.

Not so much for me.. this is only the second or third dream I've ever written down. I'm usually too lazy to jump out of bed and write it all down instead of just going back to sleep and forgetting most of it. I'm sort of a natural lucid dreamer though. very early on, after I found out there was a name for "lucid" dreams I learned some tips like reality checks but didn't have all that much luck with that. I usually just become lucid spontaneously, especially when events in the dream don't make sense or I'm in a place that just can't possibly be real on this earth.
I suppose I have a knack for it though. good luck with yours. writing them down helps you to remember your dreams. and apparently, the more dreams you remember, the better your chances of becoming lucid in the future.

Lucid dreams do feel amazing - one time, i could feel as if i was in another dimension or some sort. it was a lucky dimension that for sure, everyone was so calm.
But then again feelings are merly outcomes of interpretations of reality.
Fuck havent had a lucid in a few months - i find that if im stressed i cant have lucid dreams....
