If they have the right nutrients, ample water and fresh air, appropriate lighting, and certain genetics, they usually grow bigger than that.  Otherwise they grow to other sizes.

Sometimes when a substrate has loads of pins, they'll tend to be smaller.  Fewer pins often means they grow into larger mushrooms.

Lots of variables.

I've heard of PE3, but thought it was a joke.  I'd definitely be curious if anyone had any info on it.

Is this reputable source a vendor of this site?  If so, spill it!

You will learn things that you can do to help make large fruits,
so do not worry about the size for now.

As to when to pick, the conventional wisdom suggests that
picking them right before the veil breaks is best when
picking fruits to eat.

The idea is that the production of active chemicals stops
when the veil breaks.

(some who wish to sell their product will let them go longer,
to increase final yield)

I pick them for eating.

Take care,

JD

pe3 is real

and you cant tell differences between cube strains
because theres no such thing as a cube strain

Where are you sources for both of those statements?  Not that I don't believe you, but I've never heard anything about where pe3 originated or anything like that.  Also, the fact that two people accurately guessed a strain just a few posts ago is a strong argument against your second statement.

:crazybeard:

umm actually there called sub-strains. :strokebeard:

and you can tell the diff between sub-strains that have trained/selected traits, characteristics or identifiers.  :mushroom2:

PE3 is just an iso that dropped spores well and was carried on.  its legit.:yesnod:

I found the story on PE3 here:
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/9940432#9940432

So, it is called PE3 because it happened to come from
a third generation batch of PE?

Um printable pe is a common thing. Happens in multispore. When you grow out the printable ones the pogeny are mostly printable too. It's a defect. The printable ones don't have PE characteristics. Or rather the PE characteristics are the defect and the printable ones have picked up some genes somewhere that correct it. However you want to look at it. Sounds like pe3 is junk to me. Well it's a cube, so it's not junk. Sounds sub-par for PE.

If you want to see some really impressive genetics, get some peu from the works. I usually plug the hawk, but man their PEU strain is just really really cool.

I dont care what the sub-strains name is, if a gram knocks your dick in the dirt (like every sub-strain of PE Ive ever had has) it could be called (insert fitting name here) and I would still want it in my collection.  :print::syringe:

i think pe's crazy morphology and potency are related. a pe strain that drop spores is an inferior pe strain imo. it's missing part of the mutation that makes it special. course i can't prove it.

Probably right.  A member gave me a PE print, but in that end the print produced nothing but normal cubensis.  Nice cubensis, but not PE.

I remember somebody stating that to print PE they would use an, apparently sterilized, razor and cut the top off of the cap, to expose the gills and then would leave the fruit standing upside down, I have never gotten my hands on PE spores so I haven't been able to see if this would work.

anonjon, dont you just print pe and press it down on the foil to get spores of the gills?
