knots and pins

Well, my favorite aquaintance has told me that he has a casing in his fruiting chamber that has been in there for 6 days now. he said that knots have been present in the valleys of the casing layer for about 3-4 days.... in fact they were there for so long he was afraid they never would pin! Well, he has noticed tiny white pins in the valleys now, only a couple have even the beginnings of caps. He asked me, does this mean that he will see primordia start to emerge within the next couple of days? He  thinks so, but has been cursed with seeing tiny white pins fail to mature in the past, and is a bit cynical. The moisture of the casing is excellent, he fans several times a day, plus there is a bubbler running non stop, and he uses an ultrasonic humidifier to fill the chamber with fog after every fan, and even a couple more times. The mycelium underneath the casing layer looks a very healthy white, and no spots are without  knots. Sound promising? he promised to give me a picture tomorrow... maybe there will be something more to see!

he definately has pins =). possibly some overlay, but primarily the mycelium is under the casing soil. He didnt think a bubbler really put out that much humidity... maybe he is wrong.
