Good things to keep in mind.

I dunno why but when i'm going through an unsure or questionable or confused phase in life there are these reoccurring moments where life keeps highlighting key things that.... feed your soul i suppose and enter a peaceful state of mind.
A couple of years ago the reoccurring theme was spinning in circles or dancing. There were so many things in my life that were connecting to Islamic mysticism, whirling dervishes and celebrating life through elated state induced through dancing and surrendering to that joy. many seemingly unrelated things kept bringing me to the conclusion that this act this practice will bring you peace and I went with it.
This year's theme has been without a doubt breathe. It all started when i read Zen Mind Beginners Mind. One of the many lines that stood out to me was "when you are sitting in the middle of your own problem which is more real to you: your problem or you yourself? the awareness that you are here, right now, is the ultimate fact" Fixing yourself relaxing breathing and sitting. the simplest things that obviously can bring a peaceful state of mind is what you should do. the rest will flow. Almost every time i reach my wits end with my negative thought loops and hating on myself the only thing that reminds me that i'm gonna be ok is that i should sit down and breathe.
I just read my horoscope of the year. i don't usually take stock in these things but i like to read them for fun at the end of the day or you know the middle of the year just to see. needless to say the horoscope for my year was pretty exact and it ended with
"Breathe through the difficult spots, and enjoy the results!"
whats interesting to me is the way so many seemingly unrelated things seem to really be a part of this whole puzzle. a story is unfolding without me realizing. i like seeing themes throughout the different things and people and feelings in my life. for some reason it makes me feel like everything is happening the way it's supposed to and nothings pointless. they all feed into each other somehow.
I'm sharing this hoping that someone will either recognize and acknowledge these moments in their own lives? or have similar and interesting insights.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I read Zen Mind Beginners Mind last year and took the breathing thing away from it. My negative thoughts seem to feed off of each other and build a web that tangles me in it. My mind creates a lot of problems for itself by focusing on what I should do, even if it is not a good decision, or the big one is my mind thinks it is missing out on something. I've grown apart from a lot of my friends over the past year cuz as much as I like getting fucked up and partying, that is not all I want to do. When all of the problems my mind creates are taking control of me, I just try to clear my mind and take deep breaths focusing on my breathing. It does work. I have had that feeling of feeling that I am exactly where I am supposed to be. It has come during yoga, meditation, or just breathing in a stressful situation, and it's one hell of inspiring feeling to have.

I stays doing breathing exercises and with the consciously poised body almost all day. It truly does make the in-between moments so much more pleasant.
