Last time I visited, which was a while ago, it was around $5 USD per gram if I remember correctly. (This was before the euro, to give you an idea of how long ago.) Quality was insanely good.
Weed and hashish both vary from 3-15€ (Iceolator hash is even more expensive by the amount of THC it contains)
You can barely call weed a "soft-drug" anymore by the amount of THC that is in all of these diffirent strains
But... America is doing far better as Holland. The coffeeshop system isn't water-solid (production, distribution to the coffeeshop is illegal)
So yeah people can have plants (up to 3-5 I thought) but police can seize them.
So yeah, go america

To be honest if I had money and a business plan I'd throw myself in the lucrative cannabis market right now .

Add taxes to that and perhaps we reach $50 per pound. RR
I think they are talking about taxing $50 per ounce. I don't think it is going to cost more , I believe there will a surplus causing the price to drop , but nowhere near $50 per pound. I'm thinking (ballpark) $100 per oz. Half tax half price.

A good read on Prop 19's potential conflicts with the federal Controlled Substances Act:
Now, if you have the time and the inclination:
To Urb Regarding Cannabis Tax Rate: Proposition 19 leaves it up to local municipalities (city and county) to determine the details of the specific legislation to be enacted surrounding cannabis, which should include possession limits in excess of the mandated minimum set forth by the proposition (where desirable), as well as additional excise tax that may be imposed. Therefore, it is very difficult to tell what kind of average tax rate we could be in for; not to mention what kind of price equilibrium will ultimately be reached once the major legal constraints on supply are loosened. In any case, tax concerns are not a concern for me. The reduction of waste in our criminal justice system and the preservation of harmless personal freedoms are the reasons that I'll be voting in favor of Prop 19 this November 2nd.

Something you may want to send or post to anyone who is arguing against proposition 19:
Quote:
Prohibition does not work. There is no denying that a demand for marijuana exists, and that it cannot be eliminated simply because we make the marijuana illegal. People will find a way to procure their substance of choice, so wouldn't it be better to take the marijuana industry out of the hands of the black market? In doing so, we will undoubtedly see flat to decreased use amongst adolescents, as the substance will not be as popular amongst illicit drug dealers since the exorbitant profit margin will collapse, and kids will have a hard time buying from vendors that ask for proof of age.
Furthermore, law enforcement can quit wasting their time feeding the prison industrial complex by pursuing non-violent crimes related to marijuana, and can instead focus on the crimes that are actually hurting people. This should help reverse the disgusting fact that our country has the highest percentage of incarcerated citizens out of any country on this entire planet, which will save our state and local government much needed money; all while preserving a harmless personal freedom.
Not withstanding the fact that marijuana is substantially less toxic than alcohol (and non-addicting), it is up to adults to make responsible decisions as to how much they will use, just as they do with any other intoxicating substance. Attempting to police morality and personal choice is simply wrong. We need to take a more realistic stance on drug use in this country. People will do it regardless of its legal status. Control the substance, thereby making it as safe as possible for the consumer, while generating additional tax revenue that would otherwise be lost to criminal enterprise, and help curb the incredible waste in the criminal justice system that arises out of these absolutely futile prohibitionary laws.

Damn.. Good news from States!
I live far away from California but I hope they legalize cannabis there for personal use. Thats quite alot of money away from drug dealers and state get taxes from cannabis sellers.
In here EU, cannabis is only sold legally in Netherlands.. Some states have decriminalized cannabis. I hope that California will legalize cannabis cause that probably effects far away to Europe after some time have pass.
I have thinking that when I am old man I can smoke my own cultivated cannabis and look sunset without fear that cops come and arrest me about that.
I have arrested four times about cannabis cultivation and several times of use and now I am 'marked' man to cops about cultivating cannabis. Thats kinda hard to me. Cops chasing me like I'm some kind of big criminal and last time I got busted of cultivation its was year 2008.. Still they sooner or later come and check my apartment about cannabis and don't leave me alone!
Good news, everyone please vote yes there! Rest of the world will follow and finally understand...

Hello all,
As a Conservative Californian, I wanted to thank AlexD, geokills, and others who have been fair minded in their responses to this thread.
Conservatism, to me, means "laissez faire" and this is not from a lack of generosity, but from a love of Freedom.
A "religious right" take over of America would disgust me as much as any other Liberty loving American.
I live in California, and I am voting for Prop 19.
The fact that a drug is declared "Schedule A" because it has a high abuse potential with no medicinal value, together with the fact that Pot is illegal while tobacco is legal, leaves any sane person convinced that "the fix is in".
This is shit. I know it.
Oh yeah, if Moonbeam Brown is elected, then our trip down the drain will only be accelerated.
Nutmeg is hardly a perfect creature....I tire of "elites" stepping too easily into positions of power....but MOONBEAM?!?!? This dude was born in the lap of luxury, and has never done a day's work in his entire life.
Ahhhh....pardon the venting.
GO 19!

Posted this in its own thread but what the heck. Here's a way for people not in California to help make this pass:
Just Say Now: Phonebank to End the War on Marijuana
You sign up, and they give you a script and numbers of Cali voters one by one, you record their answers, and then click next and go on to the next one. They seem to be targeting almost entirely young people (makes sense) and this could REALLY make a difference so I encourage you guys if you've got some free time to do this for a while... young people have the worst voter turnout and if this is going to pass it's CRUCIAL that they be reminded what's at stake if they haven't been paying attention to the news and such.

The problem with polls is that not every single person that is participating in the November 2nd vote is polled. We're only a couple days away from the truth, whether good or bad.

Also, there are probably some people who will be voting "yes", but don't feel comfortable stating their support for legalizing a mind altering drug to a random person who asks over the phone, and answer "no" or "undecided" when asked. Either way, this is gonna be a close one. Despite its flaws, I'm really hoping Prop 19 passes at this point, it'll feel good to give the cops, politicians, and prohibitionists the message that people are ready to start changing these laws.

If prop 19 doesn't pass, it be really close. Either way, things will change for the better. Once politicians see that 46% of voters approve of measures like these, they might start being more open to hearing them. They can no longer say, "Americans don't want legalized marijuana" if nearly half the population does.
In 2012, expect legalization bills for at least 4 states.

In 1913 California was the first state to prohibit marijuana. It seems fitting that they should be the first to legalize it.
