Fungi Cluster with Pink Hue?
    #13120584 - 08/29/10 07:06 PM (13 years, 5 months ago)

Habitat: Central NJ USA next to the location of a ground stump
Gills: Attached, Subdistant, White with pink/brown ends
Stem: 8-12cm long, 0.25-1 cm thick, curvy
Cap: 4-6 cm wide, concave
Spore print color: IP
Bruising: None noted, although the stems of the fungi in the cluster that were in contact with the ground are discolored
Other information: About ten clusters like this were growing within an eight foot area. This was the smallest and freshest one. I rode my bike past and thought that someone had planted some kind of flowers there were so many clusters!

I'd maybe munch on them.  If you do decide to eat them, make sure you cook them well.

Boil for 10 minutes before you do anything with them. I eat the whole mushroom but some people say they get sick from the stems. I would start with just the caps. They taste good in soups.

Thanks guys. I might try a piece of a cap just to see what the flavor is like.

Although, truth be told, I've been smoking so many damn cigarettes recently that I can hardly taste anything anymore. Gotta kick that stupid habit.
