I've been an archer for several years now - started with a recurve but now shooting a longbow.
Any other archers here and what do you shoot?
I shoot a 64 inch, 45lbs RH draw Fred Bear "Montana"

Do you hunt with it? I've been curious about the speed and penetrating power of a longbow. I had a 50 lb Bear recurve fifteen years ago, but it was stolen. I was looking at them at the sporting goods store last year and it was going to be nearly $1000 to get set up again, by the time I buy a dozen arrows.
Our area is infested with deer. They pretty much wiped out our garden this year, and cleaned every apple off every tree in our orchard. They're like rats and need thinning, but fish and wildlife in their wisdom still only lets us take one buck with three or more points per year(legally). RR

I have a Bear Compound bow and a Horton crossbow.
I pretty much hunt with the compound only, since my wife always wants to use the crossbow.
I love to hunt anything with my bow from deer to turkey to hogs. I'd really like to get into bow fishing someday.

those arorws were designed to do that to turkeys, since regular broadheads are smaller and lose speed and power going through all those feathers..
but something about two intersecting 4 inch pieces of razor sharp steel that is SUPPOSED to cut somethings head off that makes me feel warm and fuzzy..
i hunt ducks and geese more than deer these days, when 200-300 geese come flying over you so low that you could strangle them from the air it makes buck fever feel like an irritating cold

Used to have a Browning compound bow set at 60lbs. Shot a little bit of competition for fun but ultimately sold it a few years ago and never got back into it.

I've been slinging arrows for about 3 years now. I was into archery when i was a kid, but my parents never let me get a real bow so i made some from sticks with mixed results.
3 years ago i decided to buy a 20# youth bow to take camping for fun and it's blown up from there.
now i have 4 bows and like 100 arrows. I like fletching my own arrows and have a few bow staves seasoning for stickbows.
I have 3 recurves - all 100% fibreglass, 1 20#, 1 30# and 1 45#
Honestly, they're pretty shitty, the 30# one is alright, nice looking and fun to shoot.
The 4th bow is fucking sweet;

I made a custom stabilizer not pictured complete with a wrapping of camo hockey tape
Martin Bobcat - furthest to the right

It's pretty short which i like.
That's a beautiful bow by the way OP I really want a nice reflex-deflex long bow some day.
