hi there some friend ask me this and i couldn?t help him, maybe you can... he picked an old case, that wasn?t fruiting and wasn?t contamined yet. he sliced the material , vaporized with some h2o/h2o2. and he put it inside a pot. first he put a peat layer then the casing material, then another peat layer. vaporized with some h2o/h2o2. and kept in the dark for a couple of days. today he checked it and it has sines of growth on the top. what shall he do now??? how can he fruit it?? he didn?t sterilize the peat, cause he is working like it is an outdoor bed. thanks and please help my friend...

i said like outdoor, cause he didn?t sterelize the peat and he?s planning to fruit it without terrarium( inside his house or at the garden). one more thing: what do you think of cold shock for a week, after fully colonized. shall he add a vermiculite layer on the top?( but he plans to water it properly, soo i think it?s not needed) thanks the pics :

friend could patch that with a vary thin layer of peat or moist verm . did he add anything to buffer ph ? 'cause peat moss is kinda acid and so is h2o2 . if he covered it loosely with saran wrap, he wouldn't need to mist as often . that should make a nice center piece, if he gets it to fruit .

no.
what do you think about coldshock? my friend is thinking about adding a layer of peat ( maybe with some oyster shell) and coldshock 16 hours. then try to fruit it .

my opinion is, that room temp is cold shock enough for cubes . as for ph adjustment, i would grid oyster shell as fine as possible, and apply it wet , and hope it leaches down into the substrate . friend has drainage holes in that pot right ? another consideration to think about, is not making the casing layer too thick . i love it when off the wall experiments actually work good luck and keep us posted .
