RogerRabbit should publish a book...
    #13107750 - 08/26/10 10:34 PM (13 years, 5 months ago)

I feel like this guy has so much information to share with everyone, and his video tek series were a HUGE hit. He has done an amazing job thus far helping noobies like myself, and would really love to see him get published.

What do you guys think?
Should RogerRabbit Publish a cultivation book?

I'm actually about 2/3 done writing one.  I'm going to let my mushroom farm run for a year or two so I can get all the kinks worked out and give detailed instructions on building and operating a two person mom-and-pop mushroom farm.  It will have a chapter or two on marketing, since it doesn't matter how many mushrooms you grow, if you can't get them into supermarkets, you won't make any cash.  Most farmers markets only operate during summer months.  Here's a pic of our Shiitake in the largest supermarket in our county.  I've got them priced the same as Portobello, and people are snatching them up and leaving the Ports on the shelf.

Holy fuck, every time I ready a post you get 100% more awesome, and this one had like a 10X multiplier. May your busnisee bring you much profit! Long live and prosper... or something? I mean this is the shit! Everything needs to be done this way!

I already wrote a detailed "PFGUIDE" for friends who are interested but don't want to do the research. About 30 pages, includes details on variations of the approach and simple illustration. If I ever get that chance I'll scan it and PDF it for yall.

$8.99 a pound, is that what the imports go for or less?

The chinese imports are selling for $17.99 in Seattle.  Around here, I have the only Shiitake available.  I put them in the stores at Portobella price, and the store actually quit stocking ports because nobody was buying them with large shiitake for the same price.

I made the front page of the local newspaper!
