Martial Arts
    #13099040 - 08/25/10 08:39 AM (13 years, 5 months ago)

What does everyone practice? Martial arts are easily the most rewarding and entertaining portion of my physical life.

You can find me staying up all night doing kicks a lot of the time.

Perhaps the best part of martial arts training: WEAPONS.

A lot of you love the kettlebell, and swinging a staff or a sword around is kind of like the weighted aerobics kettlebell brings.

Anyone ever used a 3 sectional staff? These things are like magic pixie dust for physical revelations. If you do not engage a portion of your body, learning the 3 sectional will force you to figure it out.

I've read a few of you mention how you'd prefer a bruce lee build over a power lifter bod. Well it's no wonder that doing martial arts as the main focus of exercise rather than weight training is the answer to that.

As a martial artist, when I weight train I generally train towards max range of motion and efficiency.

Doing 1,000 cuts with your katana is a crazy work out if you've never done it.

I do Taijiquan and Tuishou. Very rewarding practice, martial arts are awesome for personal development.

I've done a lot of kick boxing in my years.... I figure the only thing I need are my fists and a gun and I got both.

I used to do karate, now kung fu, probably jujitsu soon. Do you have an actual authentic katana? If so I envy you SO MUCH. Very rewarding and entertaining, I agree. As long as you're willing to put in the effort.

when you dissociate yourself from the martial aspect and practice as an art that has martial uses rather than a martial art, it becomes a lot more like yoga. The exercises have martial uses and breathing uses.

I grew up with this kind of shit, and I could never get into it until I started learning it in a way that didn't have anything to do with hurting people.
