dry lips
    #12943420 - 07/23/10 10:27 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

i got hooked on burts bees and eventually moved onto vaseline but the vaseline doesnt help my chapped lips. it just contributes to my addiction. olive oil seems to help but i cant keep pouring and applying it to my lips all day.

i know i dont have a thyroid problem, so thats not causing the dryness.  what should i do?

I've had this happen before....the only way to stop is to just stop.  It sucks for a couple days but eventually your lips start to produce their own moisture again.

Vaseline and burt's bees don't really have any bad ingredients (commonly allergic) that I know of, but I have a similar story.

I kept applying lip moisturizers but my lips kept getting worse and worse. Turns out I'm allergic to most SPF on my lips. Topical SPFs like titanium dioxide and zinc oxide seem to be okay though.

Perhaps one of the ingredients you've been relying on is in fact making it worse.
Maybe, maybe not

i dunno. i used some organic hemp stuff for a while so i doubt it had anything that would make me allergic.

what do you guys do in the winter?

its very likely that you have a nutritional deficiency. get bloodwork done. zinc, vit a & c are the main suspects

i may. i dont eat healthy at all because when i want to eat fruits and vegetables, i just think about all the chemicals sprayed on them.  so i end up eating organic popcorn or some shit.

i did get bloodwork done to see if i had a thyroid problem a few days ago, because i do have dry skin too.  i guess i may start eating the shit vegetables at walmart.

My suggestion is to get a decent multivitamin, some zinc gluconate, magnesium glycinate or malate and maybe vitamin C at the store. almost everyone is deficient to some level in mag and zinc. I definitely noticed a difference in my overall well being since I started taking them. take 400 mg of magnesium and 50 mg of zinc before bed and see how you feel in a few weeks. I don't recommend taking that level of zinc for much longer though, it can deplete your copper stores. lots of diagnoses are simply the secondary effects of simple nutrient deficiencies. it's a lot healthier, safer, and less expensive to get to the root of the problem before you get yourself a lifetime thyroid disorder diagnosis. trust me that is no fun. man the state of current medicine pisses me off

forget hemp wax, bees blah blah... ANYTHING with more than ONE ingredient will keep you guessing.

This Stuff.

PURE 100% Vitamine E
Make certain you have the ointment.. Not the creme.

I used this on badly cracked hands....  By accident rubbed my lips on a dry, cracked up day.  Instant cure.  PLUS, your body will not become dependent on it like with some metals.

Try it, immediately after you stop your current remedy; as it should help with the withdrawl of the other without causing another dependence.  If it don't work, drink more water, eat more vegetables.

PS - Walmart is not the only place that sells veggies.
