A new 22 quart PC for $39.95

I had a great dream last night! In my dream I went to a store commonly found in the midwest called Meijers. In this dreamworld Meijers had just begun to stock Mirro pressure cooker/canners, including a big ass 22 quart. Since it was a dream and money wasn't an object (or perhaps my dream personality planned to try it out and just return it later?) my dream-self decided to buy it. Well, lo and behold, when I went to the self checkout lane it turned out that the barcode had not been added to the database. The dream attendent of the selfcheckout asked how much the item was and I truthfully stated $89.95. Apparently his hearing wasn't all that great because he entered $39.95. How about that So my dream self has decided to keep his shiny new 22 quart mirro PC which he only paid $40 for! Hopefully in future dreams I will be using the new PC for quart jars or really anything I want, since I can basically fit just about anything inside this monster (including my old PC!!!).
Maybe someone else will have a similar dream. I have a feeling that the dreamworld Meijers might not have added the item yet since it is the weekend... and when the item doesn't scan and they ask you how much it is you could basically say anything you want, and if they should happen to check for themselves (which is unlikely) you could simply feign ignorance.
Remember children, this is just a dream. It never really happened!

u know, i was just thinking the same thing!!!
do u have any good software for producing barcodes?
i understand that the bar code needs to be for a valid item that they sell at the store and that it should at least be in the same catagory of item as what u are relabeling as not to arouse attention when your $300 dollar television rings up as a $.25 pack of gum.

He just goes and buys a VCR then returns it after scanning it's barcode.
Or he has a friend that works there that brings him barcodes
I never so anyone take it as far as a tv but I have seen a few dvd plays come out 4 the price of a cheap vcr
As long as u have a good printer and scanner it should work. Test them on the price check machines first thats how he keeps from looking like a fool and making sure it's scanning.
Print on thick white stickers and then double to stickers together so u can't see thru them and stick them on the old barcode.
They even make glossy white lables that work the best @ office supply
They make barcode software but it's pretty usless or atleast thats what he was told. The only way it would work is u had a barcode gun to capture and save a copy of the barcode. I wouldn't try this myself being scared of getting n trouble but this guy has puled it off a couple times
I think his printer printer prints 2100 dpi and his scanner is a 1200 dpi
I'm not sure if those r exactly right but I will ask him.

I've seen plenty of barcode software that works great. They have stand alone programs and font packages that produce these barcodes and they can be printed off of a regular inkjet printer. The only problem is that these range in price from 200 to 400 dollars, too rich for my blood. Even a low resolution UPC should work fine, the hard part is producing the codes themselves.
In my searching, I discovered this. It produces UPCs on the fly and the source is available. I guess ill just have to make this a standalone as the upcs it produces are too small and cluttered to be effective.

most cashiers pay no attention to the pricing, unless it doesent scan....especialy if you go through the line with multiple items. We are talking about minimum wage employees...they make nothing and generaly dont care for the company they work for making billions each year while they work their asses off

i dont see why youd have to record the codes with a gun to use the soft ware, im pretty sure every barcode is standard some how...
i used to work in a warehouse, we had a ups computer with a laser gun for reading the barcodes on the ups label, well anyway, you could scan the barcode on anything, ups or not, and the computer would show the numbers printed below the barcode. so a long as you had the #s of the items you want to scam(pun intended) it should work, even if the new one is a different size. maybe, maybe not.
just a thought .

Wow, so I have to really advise against pursuing this scam. If you're at all nervous about growing illegal mushrooms think about the fact that people who have been caught for this kind of scam get 10-20 years. Also think about the fact that it's probably much more likely you'll get caught doing something like this that's right in the middle of a goddamn store than something in the privacy of your own home. So even if you're of the opinion that theft isn't morally problematic, please think about the risk involved and reconsider. Certainly taking risks is a thrill and getting free stuff is cool but it really doesn't compensate for the 10 years of your life you might waste in prison. NOT WORTH IT.
