I don't like Norton anymore. What have you used to your satisfaction?
Thanks,

I like AVG antivirus because its small and doesn't use much of your computer's resources.
Avast antivirus seems to have better internet protection though, but it slows down my POS PC too much.
*edit* Norton blows, it slows down your system, it doesn't uninstall completely... fuck norton. Norton does have to pretty good tools for troubleshooting though.

Avast, AVG, and Avira are the top 3 free ones imo. I prefer avast. For paid, Kaspersky and NOD32 are excellent. Which you can get for free.. I use NOD32

Thanks for the input.
So are you implying that there are fewer/no viruses capable of fucking up a linux OS?

The nature of Linux itself prevents a virus from working. If you did find a Linux virus you would have to log out of your user account, log in as root, download it, save it, make it an executable file and install it yourself to make it work. They can't sneak up on you and run in the background like a windows virus.
Here's a guy who actually tried to get some windows virus to work on a Linux box using windows emulation software.
http://www.linux.com/archive/feed/42031
There are also free and supported Linux versions of almost every costly windows software, from animation software http://www.blender.org/ CAD software http://www.qcad.org/qcad.html word processing http://www.openoffice.org/
Anyway it goes on and on and on... you don't have to go looking for pirated versions of anything because it's all free. Maya costs $3495.00 Blender is free. Varicad $770.00 Qcad is free Microsoft word $149.99 to $499.99 depending on license Open Office is free. Hell even windows costs $119.99 to $219.99 there are many different kinds of Linux available for free.
UBUNTU which is easy to install and use Puppy Linux which runs so damn fast on old machines with slow hardware. Others like Fedora, Mint, OpenSUSE and more are available free to download everywhere, check out Distro Watch for more links.
You can put them on a usb key and run it on any computer, you can run them off a live CD and never change your system, hell you can even run Puppy on a multi-session DVD, everything you do, see or save is saved on the DVD every time you use it, when it gets full in a few months Puppy asks for a new blank disk.
Anyway, short answer is they run nuclear subs, CERN and the Stock Exchange with Linux. Virus are not a problem.
