I am 20 years old and i was smoking from the age of 14. I quit one year ago! It was not as difficult as i thought! You must have strong will! I changed my life last year to a better quality life. I don't eat junk food, i go the gym, i quit taking shitty drugs like cocaine and ecstacy and i also quit smoking! If you really want to live a better life just stop it. You don't need any drugs or chemical shit to quit smoking. Just a mind. And i bet that you have one. Use it wise! Make your life better!

I'm older, and smoked for 17 years. All I can say if you really want to you will. If you just kinda want to quit....give up!...enjoy those little darts of pleasure
I went on the patch for a week. It's been two months now and ...I have no urge to smoke ever again

Do what I did: everytime you want to smoke a cigarette, go for a run.
By the end of the day, you'll be too tired to smoke.
As an added bonus, I now run 4-6 miles per day, and I don't even think about smoking. It's been 2 years now.

i was a slave to corporate sticks for a long time too. then i bought some really good quality rolling tobacco. everytime i wanted a cigarette, i'd have to roll one. after a while, the cravings weren't so bad. cravings got farther and farther apart until i was barely ever smoking the rollies. still had little craving though. then i bought a hookah. and some nice, flavored hookah tobacco and i smoke a bowl of that probably twice a week...a little more if i smoke herb, because i like to mix it. so go buy a pack of rollies and try that out for a while. edit: yeah, running is real good too, cause you won't want to smoke afterwards. and don't buy those patches!! they only make you more addicted..

Quitting smoking is tough. It takes alot of self-control. Maybe try occupying yourself with gum, or a lollipop when you feel the need for a cigarette? That might help too. Try and replace a dirty habit with a healthier one.
Basically the main reasons I stopped was A. buying a pack every day takes it's toll on the wallet, B. I found I wasn't even enjoying them, and felt that they were nothing but a burden on my life, and C. I started to notice drastically depleted health from them, and I just knew I had to quit before they killed me.
It definately can be tough at times, but it's not impossible to quit. I can only look at them now as one thing, a poison.. a toxin that polluted me physically as well as mentally. That pretty much keeps me discouraged from smoking. Good luck to you, hopefully you'll get through it.

Getting pregnant can be a good way to quit...that's the only thing that got me motivated enough to stop smoking after 8 years. Although that probably isn't an option for most of you, is it!

I kinda quit the same way you did.....I just sorta realized how stupid it is...and that everybody in their right mind wants to quit eventually....I just convinced myself the truth that I didnt really like them....its easier than you think. but yes...the whole physical and psychological ritual associated with smoking, like what you do with your hands, the little smoker's group you hang out with, and several other factors are also whats addictive, not just the nicotine. So chew on a toothpick or do some deep breathing exercises.....which reminds me that deep breathing is also one of the reasons smokers smoke. All that deep and slow and relaxed breathing that smokers do (depending on what kinda smoker u r) is mostly what relaxes them, not so much the nicotine. Anyways,...above all else.....exercise.....if your body is weak, then how are you gonna be able to keep the mental strength to "Say no", etc...cuz after all....mind and body work together.....and if all else fails....just have sex or jack off, the orgasm while provide a nice substitute for the nicotine buzz =)

First and Foremost, to quit you truly have to want to quit. I mean you really have to want to quit.
I just worked my way down. Set a quota, for instance, say 5 cigarettes a day. Then then next week or two, move it down to 4, and so on and so forth. Now I'm down to 2 a day. Its still not great to smoke 2 a day, but much much better than smoking a pack a day.

Try the patch n gum, but since you're without that, just get a grip. Its gonna be a rough ride getting over that nicotine, but if you can go without it for a couple weeks you're home free. I went threw coke withdrawl after INTENSE HEAVY USAGE. GOD FUCKING SHIT, it was the worst time of my life. The first 2 days are the worst. I started running and working out to sweat the crap off me. Do some running or jogging everyday, running boosts your metabolism like 200% and it'll burn a lot of that shit that's in your body. Just bite your tongue and don't give into to the urge. A lot of times I had the opportunity to do some coke, even for free. My mouth used to water at someone mentioning it, then if someone had it and I smelled it, ugh, I couldn't take it. I've been clean for a while from that shit. I've never smoked cigs but once, and I just took a puff and said fuck this. They're stupid, waste money, and kill you slowly.
Cigs = population control. And that's prolly the only good thing(in a sick way) that they do.

I've been tobacco free for 13 years! Quit when I was 29 after smoking for 15 years..The last 5 smoking years I was up to 2 packs a day of Lucky Strike non-filters. I would really have to say that cold turkey is the way to go. My theory is that the more you suffer through withdrawl, the less likely you are to go back to your old habits. The whole time you're suffering, just think about how the tobacco companys are screwing you up the ass.and you're just not going to take it any more!! Get MAD, worked for me.

Im seriously thinking about quitting as well. ive only actually been smokin for about 10 months but it is still hard. It is a terrible habit, a waste of cash, time and affects ur health. Ive been cutting down alot lately, not even purposely.Im down to about 3-5 smokes/day...i had my last smoke from my pack today im gonna try not to buy antoher pack. If i get really tempted for a smoke i jus buy one off someone. I think the key to quitting is to not set an exact date when to quit, do it when u feel the time is right and replace it with a healthier habit such as healthy eating and exercise. good luck JSG!!...wish me luck
