My mother is going to buy me a new computer and learn how to use my old one. I am going to get an AMD AthlonXP processor, 512 ram e.t.c. I havn't upgraded my computer for a long time, I am very glad I get to buy a whole new one. I am celebrating with some codeine, ritalin, and benzos.

I just installed windows XP for the first time. It is running very stable for me. I was using windows 2000, but it didn't properly run my dual monitors.

WinXP does have some stability issues with ATI grafix cards, the drivers that come with WinXP crash about every 10 minutes in my experience, however downloading updated drivers fixes that problem.
Also some issues with RAID drivers, resulting in unreliable hard disk access to RAIDed drives.
Also experienced some unstablility with CounterStrike, using alt+tab to switch back and forth can crash CounterStrike, requiring a ctrl+alt+del to bring up the Task Manager and ending cstrike.exe
Some times when a program crashes, it takes explorer with it. Explorer will restart automatically most times, not requiring a reboot, but memory leaks begin to appear and semi-crashed programs may end up sucking CPU and memory resources.
All in all, XP is quite an advancement over 2K in compatibility, and far greater than 9x/ME as far as stability is concerned. But for data intensive tasks, 2K in my experience is more reliable.
