So.. what's the tek? Are there pics of your modification?
I have this thermostat- I stuck the probe in through the side of my greenhouse... is there a better way?

"Even if the probe was 10 yards from the thermostat the resistance of wire in this application at most may have a nominal effect. This should be well within the 5' recalibration range stated."
I had to do some electrical research to make this statement. Thought I would share.
I don't know if it would be better for you. Could you post a pic of how you setup yours?

It's not in use right now- but I just propped it up against the greenhouse and stuck the probe through a little slit. You could use duct tape to hold it if you wanted to.

So, you haven't actually tried it? I don't think the resistance of the wire will matter- as long as your solder joints are clean, 10ft won't matter.

The only thing I want to duct tape here is DOC T to a train track..
I made another post looking for a specific post about Synthetic Filter Disks and doc t shows up and tells me about polyfill .. I share this idea and doc t asks why?... well why would you want longer headphone wires why would you want a remote control why would you want a better wifi signal why why why don't you get it?

No shit! I proved that with the first post and offered sources for everything except the thermistor

After reading the first post it seemed that you hadn't actually modified the thermostat. I think what Doc_T was looking for was a complete TEC, that is, what could be done, how to do it, and finally the actual results of the mod. This looks like a great idea, could you add some information to the top post to show or describe your experience with the modified thermostat? Or have you not done this and are simply suggesting this as an idea for someone else to try?

Oh, no- I get why you want it.
My question is this: have you done it?
